I wanted to know if anyone knows if it's alright to clean my duo fibre brush with baby shampoo every time I use it. I have a brush cleanser for every day use, but it does not get the foundation color out of the white bristles and I would really like them to stay white for as long as possible. Is it safe to do this?

I think it should be fine, as long as you're gentle. I normally use a Brush Cleanser after every use and clean my brushes once/twice a week. I clean my brushes with Johnsons Baby Shampoo and have never had a problem :)

There was a lot of use of the word brushes in that comment aha.

Haha, okay, thank you! Yeah I try to only wear foundation when I'm going out, which isn't every day, so I probably wouldn't be washing them everyday anyway, just after every use.

There's nothing wrong with cleaning your brushes that come in contact with liquid products or sensitive areas on your face daily! The only factor that would make this something of concern is the durability of your brushes over time. Washing daily will wear out your brushes faster if you are not gentle, but even exposing the hairs and glue to water can wear down a quality brush over time.

Many people say they've had their brushes for 5-10 years, but it's personal preference as to how often you'd like to replace your brushes. I replace them if they've shed too many hairs and have become flimsy, but I'm on my 5th year of owning a majority of my brushes [since getting into makeup and collecting] and with washing them once every 1-2 weeks, they're still brand new. [For personal use, not professional]

My foundation brushes that I used to wash daily for the first year I started - and then shampoo'd once every two weeks in between cleaning w/ brush cleaner in between are still brand new. You also have to remember synthetic fibers are going to last much longer than natural hairs, so just make sure you don't use something that dries out the natural hairs to where they can become brittle and break. Stripping shampooos/soaps = big no-no.

Hope that helps!

If you're going to wash a brush often, you should sometimes, not every time, though, use olive oil with baby shampoo to wash it. This will help condition the brush.

Olive oil mixed with water does a great job a cleaning makeup off of brushes as well as the face.

Thank you all! I'll definitely try the olive oil.

what i really love doing right now, is mixing olive oil and dish soap takes care of the foundation or any eyeshadow that got deep in the bristles, and I desinfect all the brushes after each use with alcohol.
Hope that helps :)
