Cathy what is CV? Vanessa I think it's great work. Perhaps you should take pics of the work you've done on friends as well.

It's good. But you don't have to be a makeup artist to work at sephora. They hire anyone who is passionate about makeup, skincare, fragrance, and hair.

Your work is great but might I ask what draws you to retail? I see you're in Los Angeles - I understand that doing freelance isn't so favorable when it comes to security, benefits etc.but I say go a step further and start working with agencies or studios!

@Alicia P. to be honest I have not had a real job I am a full time student and jst freelance on weekends! I just want to get my foot in the door and et to know the retail experience. My ultimate goal is to open my own beauty bar but here in la makeup is quite competitive

You'll do fine - I started in the reverse way. Working in retail while I was going to school full time and then when I finished I decided to do nothing in way of what my major was and go into freelance ;). It can be competitive but I've found (even for gigs in LA) is that people are extremely helpful rather than catty if you play your cards right and are a helpful and nice person upfront (which you of course seem like you are).
Additionally, Sephora is about your look and your past experiences whereas MAC will be interested in seeing your work (go to the counter/pro store with a portfolio and ask to speak with a manager) and they'll have you bring a model in to see your customer service and artistry skills. They'll also want you to suggestive sell 3 items. That is at least what my experience with both companies was like.
Good luck though! Keep us updated with how it goes. You've definitely got the skill, girl! xo

I'll check out sephora and a few other counters and see what happens from there. Thanks for your help greatly appreciate it!!
