It always depends on the type of scalp/hair you have. I used to have oily hair so I stopped using conditioner and only use shampoo. Also maybe when you do the last rinse to your hair use cold water.

Just scrub your hair evenly whilst using shampoo.

I don't think there is a right or wrong; it depends on your hair, your environment, and what your hair needs. I like to massage the shampoo into my scalp - only my scalp, no piling all of my hair on top of my head - and then squeezing the lather over the rest of my hair. Only your roots get oily, and putting shampoo over all of your hair can easily dry it out. As for the conditioner, I apply it from mid-length to the ends, focusing it on the tips of my hair which is always the driest part.

Just use a little shampoo of your roots not your whole head. And conditioner only on your ends :)

Rub the shampoo on your entire scalp only. no need to bring in how to the ends just dries it out

Rinse using cool water it helps close the cuticle when you rinse the conditioner out.

The best way is to put shampoo on hands, rub to distribute, start at roots and scrub with fingertips in circular motions (for limbic purposes) then just kind of squeeze it though the ends. They don't get that dirty and it prevents over drying. Then rinse everything all out. Condition hair shaft not scalp and clip it up while you do everything else and rinse right before you get out for max effect. Years of Cosmo girls.

First, I use sulfate free shampoo because it's healthier (I use argan oil shampoo by pro naturals). I massage my scalp with it very well to make sure I get all the buildup off and then I rinse. I shampoo a second time with a smaller amount and rinse!

I use a no sulfate cowash I start at the scalp and just allow the product to make its way down my hair when I run my hands thru my hair in sections. I rinse then I run my hair thru cold water to close the cuticle...helps in reducing frizz in the styling process when I'm done.
