If you have dark hair, it's impossible to get that color without lightening your hair.

You can dye it with the purple and it will just be faint, like dark purple kind of color, you just have to redo it often. I had it this color for a while without bleaching my hair&My hair is naturally dark brown.

I suggest not using manic panic if you want it to last or more than a few weeks. I'd go with Jerome Russell Punky Colour. You get more, color is just as vibrant, a variety of colors, it lasts longer AND it smells so good ^_^ but with light brown hair, it would be a tad darker than the pic. But still noticeable. I have dark brunette and purple shows up in my hair (in the light)

Depending on how light of a brown your hair color is, you can definitely get a mid-toned or darker purple... possibly like the first one and the top of the second girl's hair =)
I'm not sure how to get it all beautiful and kinda smokey looking like that, but I would maybe try Special Effects Pimpin' Purple or Deep Purple on your unbleached hair. Jerome Russell's Punky Colors in either Plum or Purple may do the trick... their Violet is quite blue from what I remember. I have used the Punky Colors in Violet, but I have always had to mix it with a bubblegum pink to get a more purpley purple. I think Plum may be best, but I would do some research on those colors I listed =)

Actually Michele S just posted some purple hair she did with Beyond The Zone Color Jamz in Purple Passion and I think the color turned out similar to the ones in the photos. She does have bleached hair, so I would do a strand test on your unbleached hair and see how it turns out.

Special effects deep purple looks similar to that on light brown hair if you mix it with a bunch of conditioner.
And I just want to say bryanna, manic panic does last more than a few weeks. I dyed my hair in August and didn't have to touch it up till right before Halloween, and now I'm trying to fade it and it's only a few shades lighter than when I originally dyed it. It does depend on the hair type and all, but I used punky color and it lasted two weeks and I was pretty much blonde again. It's all trial and error though.

I hv purple hair now and it's so hard to maintain. it is fun and beautiful but after a few washes the first time you color it, it fades quickly. however once you continue coloring it your hair will hold the color much better. but the purple is gorgeous. :)

Add conditioner in with the dye to make it lighter.
Fudge paintbox have nice colours and not very expensive but you'll have to re-dye it every 2-3 weeks

I would definitely recommend consulting with a professional and not rely so much on photoshopped colored hair pictures.
