There's not a lot of options on getting certified as just a MUA where I live, so I thought I would just from scratch. What are basic must haves when building your inventory?

Look through the Makeup Artists & Professionals category on here, I know I have seen posts in the past giving advise towards what you want. Sorry I can't be better help right now or I would link you to some of them or type some stuff out.

You don't need to have an inventory when you are starting out. You are at the stage where you are just practicing. Invest in very basic, quality pieces and keep them sanitized for use on others, not yourself. Don't even think of charging anyone. Take any classes you can on art or business. Read art and makeup books. You don't need an inventory until you get to the point where you are using things up and they need replacing.
