That's used for acne?my sister says its risky on your body to use n having children. She said the Dr told her nt to get pregnant on it n wait a few years to have a child cuz of possible birth defect. That's what I know of it,if your reacting nw to it get off of it.Find another solution. She uses Serious skin care for hers n hers was horrible/cystic acne. She also uses honey lemon n tea tree oil.Maybe vitamins/zinc,melon extracts.I wish you well.

I've used it. I'd say stick to it. Totally worth every risk!

Alya A. Taking accutane is a risky choice some women have loved it and others have had life altering side effects. A friend of mine who is only 32 took it years ago and developed burs on her leg bones in the hip joint. She has had surgeries and walked with a cane for a long time. Also if you are prone to depression it can lead to suicidal thoughts. I'm not telling you to sop if you don't want to just some facts to consider.

@lolli yeah thing is I have tried absolutely everything and this is my last resort so my dermatologist recommended it, and I do monthly blood work and so far everything is fine, it's just the dryness that's driving me insane, lol
and yes noone should get pregnant while on it, I just hope it works soon :)
@rosa what were your side effects and how did you deal with the dryness and itchiness?
@tara I have done so much reading on the side effects and decided I'll go through with it anyway coz my acne are really bad, I hope I don't develop any major side effects
thank you ladies for your help :)

Accutane is a serious medication and you should not wait to contact you doctor!! It made me crazy when I was on it. I just felt very unusual and strange thoughts and dreams and feelings including itchy skin I just wanted to jump out of. Serious medication!! Contact your doctor!!

I used it ten years ago and had zero pimples until last year and that was just 1 or 2 around my monthly cycle. nothing bad at all. it was a lifesaver for my skin! the only side effect I had was severely dry lips and I found out about the most amazing chapstick that I still use and cannot live without! it's called Dr. Dan's Cortibalm and it contains cortisone so it actually heals your lips. I strongly recommend it to anyone on Accutane or anyone with chapped lips! I bite mine that's why I still use it today. anyways best of luck to you!!

@kimi my appointment is next week so I'll talk to my derm about it, but still the itchiness is sooooo annoying
@jana glad it worked for you :) I hope to have similar results!

Alya, is Retin A an option for you? It cleared mine up and when I asked Dr how early one should start on it- he replied it should be put into our baby bottles... ;) so never too young to start. And it is for acne too.

I took accutane as well. Worth it! It's the only thing that worked for me after years of creams and pills. Only side effect I had was very chapped lips!! That's it. And because your secreting less oil, my hair looked great all the time. I could go a whole week without washing my hair.

@adrienne I don't know if it's an option but my derm never recommended it, I guess I'll ask on my next appointment! thnx :)
@yumi I moisturize twice a day and use a sulfate free shampoo so I really don't know what am doing wrong but I hope this will subside soon and I'm glad that accutane has worked for you, hopefully it will work for me as well :D!
@rachael I'm happy that it worked for you, wish me luck :D!

It's so bad for you , I heard of people dying from it and your putting bad chemicals in your body
May 15, 2013
Alya A.
@Danielle I think it's like any other medication, they all have risks and side effects, I know it has some major side effects but they are rare and the blood work done every month is aimed at avoiding such effects so if anything comes up abnormal the medication is stopped at once :)
