My hair is slightly wavy but I am used to blow-drying it straight. However, I am planning to learn to curl my hair.

I tried curling it and in the end, the curls either don't last or goes everywhere.

Help!

What method are you using to curl your hair...round brush blow-out, flat-iron, curling iron, rollers, etc? What products are you pairing with it both before and after curling?

Have you tried curling without heat? My hair will only go straight with heat - for some reason it just takes any natural wave away and I cannot curl it and keep the curl for more than hour - I use foam rollers in dry hair over night then take them out in the morning and my curls last about 12 hours before they go back to my natural wave - hope that helps!

Diana, I find rolling so relaxing and it's so great for hair health. I never knew you rolled! What size rollers are your favorite for waves? Do you use a wrapping foam?

I'm using a 19mm hair curler with with a clip. I don't use any styling products, except for heat protectant.

I think this leave-in's, even heat protectants, make a huge difference when it's a multi-purpose product, such as Living Proof's Spray which not only smooths the cuticle to ease frizz, but seals in moisture, helps keep tangles in check, but also protects against heat, up to a certain temperature.

Leave-ins are very helpful with frizz. When you curl your hair...hold your curl in your hand..cup it...to let it cool slightly before you let it "fall". Work in smaller sections...clipping off the hair to keep things easier if need be. Don't be eager to brush it out.
Before you finger comb it, hit it with a flexible hold hairspray that does well in whatever weather you're working with. I find Kenra to be great in heat, wind, winter, etc. Big Sexy has a humidity spray that you try travel size. I keep one and sometimes hit that lightly, then follow up with Kenra. It's still soft, brushable, etc.

You might want to look into a Wet Brush to loosely brush the curls.. Using your fingers or a pick also allows to not stretch the curl and spoil it. Hope that helps!

My natural waves I don't need rollers for actually - I just use mousse in wet hair let it air dry and spray with hair spray to keep the frizzies away - I mainly use the smaller sizes for curls cause I cannot curl my hair for the life of me with heat - I just don't know what it is but heat just makes my hair straight and nothing else lol - so I just use foam rollers wrapped in cloth and wrap sections around them - and I've even used socks before if I couldn't find my rollers haha - they work just as well too - but Hanny you should try using a curling or volumizing mousse in your hair when it's wet and try using hair spray when it's dry and you have the curls all done - maybe that will help!
