Ok I'm really desperate for some help... I have been really sick for like 2+ weeks. Like in bed with pneumonia and than influenza to weak to move so that means no shower (gross I know) but the problem is my hair. I have close to waist length hair and it's completely matted. I'm finally feeling strong enough to move around but I need to know how to fix my hair with out cutting it.

I would suggest washing your hair twice and see if that helps.

I would wash it twice and then leave conditioner in for about 5/10 minutes. then wash it out, and put leave in conditioner in if you have it. Feel better!! 😊

You might even try letting some conditioner soak in your hair before you wash it to loosen the knots. Feel better soon!

I second all the suggestions to let the conditioner soak and wash it a few times. wash without the shampoo too. and even leave a little of the conditioner in at the end of your rinse to give the hair slip. try to get it into sections while youre washing it, at least into half or quarters in your head. and keep those sections separate the best you can, if you can section it on the natural part really try to keep that in place while you dry the hair. don't run it with a towel, dab at it. try to let it air dry or use the blow dryer on low. don't brush it until it's dry because it will be easier to break, but if you have an extra wide toothed comb you can try to separate it further with that. and when you brush, start from the ends and work your way up. so grab the ends together and brush the out and then go a few inches up and brush that out and continue up. for my long, easily matted hair that's the only way I can brush it effectively. if you can't tell I've had to unmangle it many times before lol. I wish you luck, and patience.

I'm so sorry to hear you are unwell. I do hope you get to feeling much better soon.

I wouldn't wash my hair until I had someone pick up a Wet Brush...the original or the detangler; either will work. It's not expensive and any Target/Walmart/Sally's, etc. should have it. This will help you get your hair under control without tearing at it or snapping it.

I'd skip shampoo at this moment and agree that letting conditioner...a masque or some thick conditioner that's designed to detangle sit on the wet hair for a bit; Aussie 2 minute miracle is very good at this sort of thing.
Afterward, be sure to use a detangler. Johnson & Johnson has one for children that is very inexpensive, effective and gentle at the drugstore. Just a note; if you want to wash, Johnson & Johnson makes a detangling shampoo. I'll link them below.

http://www.target.com/p/johnson-39-s-no-more-tangles-detangling-spray-10-0-oz/-/A-11427127 (Leave-in Detangling Spray)

When you dry it, don't twist the towel or rub it. Instead, pat gently. Then, apply the detangler generously on your damp hair and use your Wet Brush without any tugging. It won't snag or hurt in any way, I promise. It is a lifesaver!

I agree with Aleena that in most cases, it's a bad idea to address tangles in wet hair, but The Wet Brush is specifically designed for this sort of situation and it's used in many salons here for that purpose with leave-in products designed to detangle.
