My microblading experience

Hey everyone!
I recently got my eyebrows microbladed and I thought I would share my experience, since I know it's becoming quite a trend.
The first thing I want to say is to do your research on artists!! Check out if they are certified, their portfolio, cost, if they are in a clinic or out of their home (and if they are at home if they meet up with regulations, sterilize instruments, etc).
I found an artist through a friend who got hers done, and I checked out her Instagram page to see her work, and I was really impressed! The initial cost is a lot, but it also included the first touch up appointment, so it was justifiable to me. (Most places I have heard of also include the first touch up with the initial cost)
The first appointment, she went over the risks and I signed some paperwork, and we did a patch test of the pigment on my skin, and found a shade that worked for my undertones and hair color. She also explained to me what exactly microblading is, because it's a new beauty trend. We also drew on a guide as a shape that I would be happy with, and adjusted it accordingly.
She applied a lidocaine cream on my brows and waited around 15 minutes for it to numb my skin.
The actual procedure took around 20 minutes. The first pass (creating a hair stroke) I barely felt at all. She then did 2-3 more passes on the same hair strokes. The second pass was uncomfortable, the third was a little painful. The pain experienced will vary depending on your skin and products/tools used.

The touch up appointment was a lot quicker, as we had a very good idea for a shape, and already knew a pigment color. She went over a few of the hair strokes, and did microshading on the very tale end of my brow. During the healing process of my first appointment, the pigment practically disappeared on the very ends, so I wanted a more solid look in case they faded again, it wouldn't look patchy.

This appointment the pain was much more tolerable. She told me the shading part would be most painful but I didn't feel anything. However, she did a few hair strokes on the parts that were shaded to make them appear more natural, and those were pretty painful.

The healing process is very similar to a regular tattoo as far as I know, but I don't have any so I'm not really sure. My skin created scabs, which became very itchy until they peeled off. It was very hard not to scratch and pick the scabs!
Here is the initial before and immediately after, but I don't have a healed picture of the first appointment, and she did take pictures of me immediately after the second appointment and posted to her Instagram, but I went back to her page and they are gone now.

Wow they look amazing!! I've been wanting to microblade my brows even before this became a trend. I've just been so hesitate beacuse of the price. I'm also so scared they are going to look horrible or be extremely uneven. Hope you don't mind me asking but how much did you pay? I'm wondering if around 600$ is to much or just what you have to pay to get great brows. (:

I loved when they were first done lol! It's weird mine didn't get itchy when they were healing though, did you find your scabs came off and you could see the strokes clearly in it? Haha

Thanks ladies! JL, she charged 500, so it came close to 600 including tax and a tip. I'm a dental assistant, so early mornings mean I don't have time for much makeup, so they were a good investment for me, and totally worth the money! They ask you to fix the shape and adjust anything you are unhappy with in the guide before you start. I was worried about that too but it worked out!!

Shaye, they look great! And I totally did! It was really satisfying when they did come off haha

I'm a week post first appointment! I have oily skin so we'll have to see how my retention is.

Definitely post a thread if you decide to pull the trigger!

Caroline, it took a while for mine to fade, but when they did the ends looked quite patchy, and my skin is on the dryer side. I'd definitely recommend asking your artist about micro shading any areas that fade a lot!

Mine cost me 350$ including my touch up, pretty cheap but super important to research whoever you're looking at going to and if they're worth your money.

Thanks, Rozberry! And I totally agree, Shaye. There were a few cheaper options available but I'm a firm believer in you get what you pay for, and I'm really glad I splurged!

Wow they look sooo beautiful 😍❤️ Thank you for sharing this I have literally zero time for make up in the morning so I've been wanting to try this so badly!! My eyebrows are thick but my the tails of them are soo patchy from trichotillomania in high school so I've been filling em in for years so not having to worry at all would be such a nice change!

I would highly recommend it, Jes! They are a total life saver in the mornings, and even when I do my makeup they make my life easier!
