(**WASN't SURE WHAT CATEGORY TO PUT THIS IN)
Hey beauties! So I will be traveling to LA at the end of March. I haven't gone on a plane since around 2005. And I didn't wear makeup back then :) so I wanted some tips on what I should pack (makeup/skin care/clothes). I'm trying to keep everything organized and definitely not over pack. And for anybody who lives in LA what clothes should I pack (weather-wise)? Also any tips on traveling with makeup? Sorry if my post is all over the place. But I could really use your help! :)

Hi Ms. L! I happen to travel often (so much so that I'm a platinum flyer...oy).
I've only been to LA a few times, but I've been to California in general a whole bunch, so here are my recommendations:
-Check the weather when it gets closer to the time that you'll be there so you know what to pack. Depending upon how long you'll be there, the amount of things you should pack will change. Personally, I always wear a pair of jeans on the plane, and top them off with comfortable shoes (usually high topped sneakers or a pair of low heeled booties), a t shirt and either wear or carry a sweater or sweatshirt. That way, I have a pair of jeans I can re-wear a few times, and a sweatshirt as well. In addition, I'll pack a different top for every day, and depending upon how many days I'll be there I'll change up how many bottoms and sets of pajamas I have.
For example, for a week long trip I'd wear jeans/t shirt/sweater, and then I'd pack 2 bottoms maximum, a t shirt for every day, a set of pajamas, underwear for every day, 2 bras, and anything I may need for a specific outing (for example, a dress and heels for a night out or fancy dinner). In addition to my sneakers or boots, I also always bring at least one additional pair of everyday shoes, and again, if I have a special event I'll bring a specific pair of shoes for that.
As far as toiletries, I always bring every part of my skincare routine, as well as mini shampoo/conditioner/hair mask, a bunch of hair ties, toothbrush/toothpaste etc.
Makeup-wise, I always bring my basics (which in my case is eye primer, concealer, mascara primer and mascara, but whatever you know you really can't go without), and then supplement it with whatever I am feeling at the moment, usually a palette or two and a maximum of 5 lipsticks. I pack all of my makeup and toiletries in the Sephora Brand Weekender travel case, and place it in the middle of all of my clothing so that it doesn't get thrown around. Make sure you're using an appropriately sized suitcase so that your clothing and stuff don't shift during transit. Always pack your shoes and/or books on the bottom then top with neatly folded clothing, placing your makeup in the middle.
That's about all I have off the top of my head, but if you have any other questions I'm happy to help!

That's so helpful Hannah!! I will be there for 5 days so your example is perfect. And is there anything that won't be allowed through security (makeup/skin care)? I did read liquids/creams have to be 3.4 fl oz or less.

They do have to be less than 3 oz or so, but unless it's an aerosol spray pretty much everything is allowed. Basically, don't worry about your foundation or face wash, they don't care. A lot of people talk about having to take out all of your liquids going through security, but personally I never do that and no one seems to care so I wouldn't worry too hard about that.

I live about 45 minutes from LA. I would as suggested by Hannah check the forecast a few days before you travel.
For the travel I would wear skinny jeans or leggings and boots or converse. A loose top and scarf as some places get cold. I always stick to a high bun and very minimal makeup. When traveling I try to keep my skin as moisturized as possible and drink lots of water. For the actual trip pack depending on the weather. And for makeup I try to pack in the order I apply my makeup that way I don't forget anything. Aside from your makeup Don't forget your skin items (nigh creams, mask...) happy travel (:

It's been mostly warm, 70-80, but then there are days when it can drop to 65 or so depending on what part of L.A. you're in. It has even rained a few days this month. Bring whatever makeup you want and tank, tops, shorts, jeans, a sweater or hoodie and maybe a light weight windbreaker jacket if you have one. I live in the valley so the temperature is on the warmer side. While you're here, you should hit the Morphe store in Burbank and Naimies in Sherman Oaks/Studio City.

I live in LA, right now it's not cold at all, it feels like spring. I would wear shorts, a shirt, and maybe a cardigan just in case.
