Sorry if this is in the wrong category but I wasn't sure where to put it. I was wondering how you guys got such good quality pictures of your eye makeup? I've had a bunch of looks I really wanted to share lately but when I try to take a picture of it, it looks horrible and the colors are off. Do you use a special camara or a cell phone camara? I know natural light helps but is there anything thing else I could be doing wrong?

You would need a good quality camera, most phones cameras aren't as sharp. The Nokia Lumia 1020 has a very good camera

I use a Sony A5100 With a flip screen to take my makeup pictures. It takes amazing pictures considering the price and comparing it to an actual DSLR camera. The video is also very good considering you play the lighting and what not, I actually use this camera to shoot for my YouTube videos as well. It has a lot of settings you can choose for very different things. Overall I think it's an amazing quality for the price!

I use a Samsung NX30 with a ringlight and two umbrella lights. I could never get natural lighting to work for me. I swear those that can are magicians or something. lol

But I really don't think it's necessary to go and buy a $500+ camera just to take your makeup pictures. For example, the pic on the left was taken with my iphone, pic on the right was with my NX30. (with zero editing on either) Yes the color is more accurate with the NX30 but the iphone still does a decent enough job. Also keep in mind that 99% of the pictures you see on youtube, instagram and elsewhere are extremely edited. If you try and compare your results to something done in photoshop you're going to drive yourself nuts. :)

I think most people use a really good camera for that and not a phone camera.

Lighting, soft editing and a good camera! I have a NIKON cool pix which I love, DSLR cameras work brilliantly too. Anything with a high MP rating, phone cameras generally aren't up to standard.
