Hey lovelies, I was just clearing up my makeup/nail polish and I noticed a lot of my polishes getting clumpy and separated. How long does the average nail polish last? And when it's gone bad how is the right way to dispose of them? Thanks!

I find that depending on the brand. Some of my polishes will last about 6 months before getting clumpy while others last a lot longer. Not sure if the proper way to dispose of them I just throw them in the trash can.

Great! Thanks Ivette! Needless to say, my nail polish collection is about to be MUCH smaller. 😊

Regardless of whether or not the polish is clumpy or not, you should only keep polishes for up to 2 years, as much longer than that you risk a higher rate of bacterial infection. After 2 years, toss it. (unless its the OG Essie Starry Starry Night or Clarins 230. Those are worth a few hundred) If you want to try and save a polish from ClumpyTown before that 2 year mark, though, use a nail polish thinner, not acetone or nail polish remover.
