Hi beauties,
So I'm thinking of getting my nails done. I just removed my gel nails (w/ tips) about 1 week ago. And I was looking to try SNS since I've heard it's healthier. Has anybody tried this? Thoughts?

I have! I must admit, it was so fantastic, that my lazy booty went 6 weeks chip free. I just wasn't feeling up to sitting in the salon, but the color did not chip or fade...nor budge.
Despite my cuticle growth was awful, my polish was as perfect as the day I had them done. The bonus was that my nails were crazy strong Since there's less time under the light, it was also quicker than my liquid gel nails. .
I'm indeed a convert. BUT, soaking it off is where it isn't so healthy; instead, ask your manicurist to use the buffer tool to remove the polish as they do with liquid gel polish. They can use a cotton ball and remover for any residual polish.

Thanks Rozberry for all the info :) Can you still get the acrylic tips with SNS? And get regular nail polish over it?

Yes, you can get tips. The SNS isn't a polish, but instead a powder. They clean up your nails, file, etc..and then apply a clear coat. While the coat is wet, they dip your fingertip into the powder color of your choice. This is done several times and then sealed, briefly under a light with a final coat. I actually just had mine done again. You can get a french mani or solid color. This time I did Black nails with white tips. This takes a long time, unlike the solid color. Most likely this is because I got a dark color, rather than pink. The girl next to me did pink and it took half the time. They dry remarkably hard and last forevah. The soaking..no thanks. I request they use the tool to remove my polish, which takes longer. You should expect to pay extra for such a service. When I did liquid gel or regular no chip, my hair would get caught in my cuticle growth after 2 wweks..arghhh. This, I can put off the salon visit when I need to, and no getting my fingers stuck in my hair.

Now I have seen these done poorly, so I can only speak from my own experiences. My manicurist is very talented. I think you'll enjoy them!

Thanks Rozberry! You have been so helpful. I found this salon that offers SNS and it's gotten good reviews. So I'm hoping it will work out because I can relate to the hair getting stuck between my nails!
