Recently my skin has been breaking out a lot and the cleansers that used to clear it no longer work. I was considering trying Proactive, how well does it work?

I started using proactive when my face started breaking out. Now, all of my acne is gone! :)

When I tried Proactive it burned and irritated my skin, very unpleasant and uncomfortable. I suggest seeing a dermatologist.

If you have sensitive skin, proactive seems to dry it out even more and clog the pores with dead skin. If you do use it, make sure to moisturize afterwards. I personally use Olay Regenerist because it absorbs right away and doesn't cause breakouts. But I definitely think you should see a dermatologist before starting a skin care regimen. There are different kinds of acne that need different kinds of treatment. I've been using proactive for months now with very little results, but now that my dermatologist has me on Retin-A I'm almost all the way cleared up! Best of luck to you 💜💜

A friend of mine who is 16 said that it really damaged her skin. She said that it is too harsh of a skincare line on young skin and is mostly good for more adult skin which is not as sensitive.

It didn't help me at all. Not only did it not help but it dried my skin out SO badly my face looked horrible with flakey patches everywhere. It also burned really badly when I put on the repairing cream (step 3). Wouldn't recommend at all.

I loved it!! My dermatologists told it's better on younger skin. So I'll have to disagree with Chloe. If you have dry or sensitive skin then do not use this as it will dry out your face a bit. I have oily skin so for me that was not a problem! I used it for about 7 months and it helped clear up my skin! Now I just use a regular cleanser/toner/moisturizer bcc my skin is clear!:)

The medicinal ingredient that Proactive uses is Benzoal Peroxide, some use Salycilic acid which I find is gentler. My brother used it and it made his skin peel a flake off so if watch out and maybe try to find out if it's compatible with your skin.
