Acne and dry skin...help!!

I went to the dermatologist about a month ago and they recommended a spot treatment and told me to use it every night for my acne. I told them about my dry skin but the treatment isn't working!! My skin gets dry if I use it every night which makes my makeup look patchy and it just looks terrible. So basically I'm trying to get rid of my acne but keep my dry skin under control as well. Any suggestions??

What spot treatment did the Derm give you or suggest?
What product are you exfoliating with?
What kind of acne do you have?
Are you toning and moisturizing?
If so, what are you using?
Which foundation are you using? Do you powder?
Knowing this would really help the forum give you feedback. :)
