I've started using a heavy moisturizer at night which people with oily skin tend to steer clear of in fear it will make their skin appear even more oily. However, I've noticed that when I wake up in the morning, my face is still somewhat oily but no where near as bad as before.

Have you tried using an aloe based toner?

It sounds to me that you probably just have overreactive sebaceous glands and if that's the case there isn't a product to permanently stop it. There are products to reduce the oil from breaking thru...especially if wearing foundation. One that comes to mind is Murad Mattifier Cream SPF30. I have it and that stuff is pretty dang good but I find that I can't wear it everyday because after awhile my skin starts to become a bit dry and blah.

I would stop the Neutrogena astringent and start using the Thayer aloe based one you posted. Shelley sounds like she's suggested something effective so I would trust her on that.

I agree with Robbery...Neutrogena astringents are quite harsh on the skin and if the blue formula that I'm thinking of it contains a drying alcohol (fatty alcohols are safe for the skin) and fragrance which both together can suck any natural moisture from your skin along with the oil forcing one's glands to over compensate in the oil production department. Another toner to check out and which I use my myself is the one from Simple. I also have used the Thayers toner that you posted above and its balances my oil slick quite nicely.

I agree with Shelley 100%. I don't own that Neutrogena astringent but they definitely harsh & can destroy your skins protective layer which will actually cause more sebum to be produced. I have tried the one by Simple and it's quite inexpensive and the ingredients are much better for your skin.
