I've been drinking water around 4-5 glasses per day but it ain't doing anything for my acne. I'm only running to the loo back and forth. Has anybody benefited by drinking water or I'm drinking less? Is it for real or just myth?

Water will benefit you in so many more ways than just w/ your acne. keep w/ it. make sure you have a good skincare & diet regimen as well.

It's not a myth, though I'm not too sure how much it will help with acne. You may need to look in another direction to cure your acne.

Green tea is where it's at. Naturally fights bacteria and inflamation. You can also make a rinse for your face after it cools.

From my experience of anything treating anything through natural means, it can take a loooong time before you see any benefits...but you will and they will be good. you just have to persevere.

If its hormonal acne, it won't make much of a difference. To treat hormonal acne you'd have to switch to hormone free foods and do rigourous exercise to help control your hormone levels. If you're dehydrated and breaking out due to dehydration, it can help. Like Rozberry mentioned, anti inflammatory foods will probably be more beneficial.

Kitty K. I usually break out due to oily foods and I have dry sensitive skin so moisturizing sometimes make matter worse :(

Definitely keep drinking water like that. But like everyone said, just drinking more water alone will not cure acne.
A skincare routine is still a must. Switching between green tea and water will help too. I like to do the same as hannah, but I have 3 water bottles (1 litre), and two tea infusion water bottles of green tea (I like cold and hot tea but if you prefer hot you could get a thermos), I also bring a fruit infused water bottle. I'm on medication where dehydration is basically a 5 hour without water trip away, so I drink an excessive amount. Be careful not to drink to much at once. Water poisoning is a very dangerous thing and can be deadly. A good way to prevent that is when you pee, if it's clear, only sip at the water every 20 minutes or so, don't chug or drink lots at once anyways, because it's hard for the body to process and you only absorb about 4-8% of water drank. Another thing you can make sure of is if your lips get fry, drink more water. Your lips don't have a natural oil to them, and it just relies on the water content in your body to be at the right level where it gets some moisture. So if your lips are dry drink water. If you use a lot of chapstick or lipstick this can be a tricky way to tell, but it's something a lot of people rely on.

Actually it's the whole "you have to consume exactly 8 glasses of water per day to stay healthy" that is a myth that has not been supported through scientific testing - here is a link to elaborate from the mayo clinic that cites the institute of medicine's recommended daily total beverage (not just water): http://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/nutrition-and-healthy-eating/in-depth/water/art-20044256
It's a myth because you consume water in every beverage you drink - even soda has some water in it that the medical institute says you can include that water in your total water intake - also your daily intake depends on your body - so your gender and weight play a role in how much water you need - so 8 glasses could be too much or too little depending on your body - so that's why 8 glasses of water per day is a myth :)

Drinking water is beneficial to the skin. Skin cells, like any cells, contain a high percentage of water (approximately 70 to 99%), so they need water to function properly. However, while drinking more water may improve your overall health, it won't cure acne. Diet and proper skin care are more important factors. Are you already avoiding sugars and processed foods? Have you tried to limit your dairy intake? What are you using on your skin?

Drinking water definitely is beneficial. You should be drinking more 8-10 glasses of water every day. Also with it, you need to have a proper diet, avoid junk and oily food. Have a good skin care routine. These all together will help you skin be acne free and healthy.

I agree with Emily! It's not just one factor it's all of these things combined. I have imbalances in my hormones and take prescription medications for it. However my skin become its best from eating healthier (I still eat sweets just not as often), my skincare routine is crucial, and I drink loads of water. I think I only drink juice once a day if any. My doctor told me to drink a glass before bed and one as soon as I wake up. Whenever I'm thirsty I reach for water. I gave up coffee and only drink Teavana Tea with rock sugar for sweetener. My doctor even said my blood tests came out better since my changes and lowered my meds. I never gave in the the limit of dairy, but I did change to substantially reduced fat.

Thankyou to all the ladies. I know I may get lazy or fussy about drinking water but I'm surely going to try it and be consistent.
