What's the deal with sunblock? I have heard so many mixed reviews like its actually more harmful then does good so can some one give me safe products that are healthy for me as well as protect my skin.

Sunscreen is not harmful at all! You need to protect your skin from UVA and UVB rays every day of the year, not just summer. Even when it is cloudy. Solar radiation (or synthetic UV rays from a tanning bed) damage the DNA and structure of your cells and drastically increase your risk of skin cancer. I like using a spray sunscreen like Coppertone Sport because it dries fast and isn't oily. There are versions for sensitive skin and noncomedigenic versions (Neutrogena makes one). SPF in makeup is not high enough and doesn't last long enough for adequate protection.
I have had skin cancer twice and I am very vocal about sun safety-- melanoma (the deadliest form of skin cancer) is increasing exponentially in young women because of the popularity in tanning and the lack of information about sun protection. It is almost completely preventable, which makes the current rates very sad indeed.

I concur. Sunscreen is your friend.
