I have not been on this website for very long, but I have realized a complete change. The first week I found this website, I was just plain amazed. I learned so much, everyone asked exciting questions, everyone was so nice... And now.. Honestly, I just see plain dumb and pointless questions!! What happened?? I want the normal site back, it was such a good tool to learn new things. Does anyone else agree? Cause I'm not liking the changes...
This wasn't meant to sound rude, thus is just me expressing my frustration.

I am new to this site. it seems to me people just post pictures of themselves asking if they are pretty. lol. I'm in need for some real advice dammit!

I joined the site about a month ago and have noticed that everyone seems to be asking things that are more along the lines of boys, am I pretty?, and random things. I came to this site for advice cuz I m new to makeup and wanted help from professionals and the more experienced. I didn't want to be bombarded with people asking whether they are pretty

Unfortunately, even though we've been crying for mods for so long, they rarely come around. They're hard enough to contact on Twitter. Even harder to contact through the website. Until these mods come out of hibernation, it's going to be hard to get this website back to where it used to be.

I agree with Rikki P. In the meantime I hunt down great questions to help someone seeking valid advice.

I emailed Beautylish just last night about some of my concerns and haven't heard anything back. I didn't really expect to though. I just really hope the mods come out of hibernation and see how this site is being run into the ground and say "oh hell no" and start making changes that really need to be made.

I haven't been here long at all and overall I've liked the experience but as of late some of the things I've seen have made me want to pull my hair out.

We really need mods... I'm not saying all are bad but I see mostly 11 year olds asking their make up is ok..

I can tweet beautylish for days and days and not get a response. Same with e-mail. The "team" are the "mods" but... yeah, they're not doing anything. Clearly, the mods need to be people that are on here regularly. I'm not saying like for almost twenty-hours a day (.... which is what I do, but anyway lol) but at least on here enough to be noticed. I swear I only see one team member post once every three weeks or something.

Hi, I'm new here as well. I try to give constructive advice when I'm replying to a topic but there have been weird or almost troll-ish threads I wonder if some are just totally fake and just making a fool of some of us who genuinely try to help...

Agreed. I want some real makeup talk about real new products and testimonies. Sharing new purchases, asking about specific products and peoples opinions. I want to have a real conversation not just "share your cute hair pix" or "whats the best foundation" i love that younger girls are interested in makeup but they dont even use the site correctly they just post. Oh well, back to makeupalley i go! If any of you want real makeup conversation definitely join! Been a member for three years and you can seriously learn stuff from these ladies!

I am pretty new here as well. I have emailed the site about my concerns about enforcing their Terms of Service, and to report a user that is harassing me. So far, no replies. I didn't think to try twitter, I might do that as well. Is there a Facebook or anywhere else to bother them at until they address our concerns?

when i first was on , there was ladies here who asked some good questions about makeup, now all i see is 13yr olds asking if their pretty or if they have wrinkles. i want the old beautylish back.

I'm kinda new here, but I see the same thing! I'm only a teenager as well but I'm just here to see and try new looks, and to get inspiration. I don't like that there's a bunch of mean people putting others down or people who are just seeking attention. I hope the site gets back to its roots :/

I totally agree Shanay. The rude comments really really bug me. It's one thing to give tips for improvement (we are all here to learn!), but quite another to straight up insult somebody.

I agree! I've been here a week and the posts have taken a turn from critique, asking advice, sharing tips etc. to asking how to impress boys, how to make your ex regret breaking up, and "am I pretty?" (The last one is completely silly by the way!!!).
I enjoy the advice and tips shared here, and I take it on board. Nobody benefits from asking a bunch of strangers if they're pretty, and if you're having relationship problems or boy troubles you really are better off talking to friends, family or a counsellor. I'm happy to help where I can but its be great if everyone kept in mind that this is a beauty app! :) xx

Exactly, Catherine! People seem to be forgetting that this is meant mainly for makeup and Beaty tips, not for their personal emotional problems or to get their kicks out of being rude to others. It's just not right and I really hope it improves!

i totally agree with you all! i am quite new here , but i could see how these immature and childish posts got more and more. i came on here to get good advice and learn interesting things, not to be asked if any eleven year old kid is pretty or not. but the only way to stop these posts is simply NOT ANSWERING! if nobody answers, they will give up :)

Jan 28, 2013

Catherine W.

@Julia K you are spot on. Trolls will be trolls, and they will have to go find something else to do if nobody takes any notice.

well there is nothing else one can do against these posts :)

I agree I'm new here and when I first found this site I was so excited to learn about makeup and hair as I really suck at them. So far I haven't learnt that much and I see a lot of irrelevant posts and it's getting really annoying.
