Beauty Product Reviews

Beautiful everyday palette to take you from morning to night

This is my first Viseart palette and it is absolutely beautiful and a delight to use. All shades blend easily and have good pigmentation. Creme Brulee is the perfect there transition shade/all over lid color for my light skin tone and Pirouette is absolutely to die for both in texture (super buttery) and color (gorgeous pinky coppery rose gold). I feel like the photographs of swatches are over exposed, which makes it seem like the colors are more pink/plum thanin person, as Petale is a barely there shade and the color is far dustier than the swatch, tulle isn't as bright, St. Germain looks like a true gunmetal silver/gray, Cerise leans closer to brown with silver flecks, Pirouette is less orangey, and Fleur is a dustier tone in person. The swatches also make it seem like there isn't much variation in color depth for some of these shades, but the differences are much more apparent in person. My only qualm is that Petale will appears fairly chalky on my skin tone, so I assume it will look much more so on skin tones darker than mine, and Beaux-Arts and Marais look very similar on me, so much so that I'm not sure both were necessary in this palette.

Lovely scent but not moisturizing

This made my lips peel. I love the scent but it seems to have the opposite effect of what it's supposed to do. At first use, it's nice and lightweight. It's fresh (harhar) scent is awakening for the senses. However, after a few minutes, I noticed that although there was still a layer of product over my lips, my lips felt scratcher and drier than when I had first applied the product. This simply did not work for me, but apparently does for others. Also, this product melts quite easily so beware!

Use more for color tint than true moisture

This product makes my sensitive lips peel. I love the slight tinge of color it imparts, tho and like I for that, but I cannot use this as a simple balm. It is not hydrating enough and seems to have the opposite effect of what it is supposed to do.

Makes lips peel... ;(

At first swipe this product seems great: lightweight, well pigmented for what it is, emollient and natural, but after a few minutes, it seems to sap any natural moisture my lips have. These make my lips peel and then the pigment sticks to the dryness and all together makes for a very unattractive look. It seems to be wonderful for some, but for those who have sensitive lips, this may not be the bet product for you.

Pretty good, overhyped

This is a great lip balm for the price. It has adorable packaging and is very attention-grabbing. It's also great for immensely lazy people like me who use one swipe to cover both lips. Initially this seemed to work great for me, but as I used it more frequently, I think my lips gained tolerance to it or something and it stopped being effective. Now, it makes my lips drier instead once the product starts to wear off. It's also more on the waxy side, than the emollient side, so depending on what you like and how your lips respond, this could be good or bad.

Not for sensitive lips

I have the champagne color and it is quite frosty. I love the peppermint and the cooling effect, but am not crazy about the high frost look this gives me. It's also not super moisturizing, and having to consistently reapply makes the color even frontier. What makes this worse tho, is that this product makes my peeling worse! Not sure if it's the shimmer, pigment, or what, but those who have sensitive lip maybe experience a similar peeling affect

You have to reapply 50x a day...

It's not terrible, but it's also not amazing. I like the peppermint and cooling feel of Burt's Bees, but it's not hugely moisturizing in my experience. It's always been a fairly stiff product that I have to reapply every hour for any kind of relief. It's affordable, but just isn't effective enough for me to consistently use it.

More of a gloss, not amazing

This is a definite gloss, not a balm. It has little pigment but lots of shimmer. Not super moisturizing either. It's quite "meh" and you can find something similar at the drugstore for cheaper.

Holy grail lip product

I don't like referring to this as a balm because I don't really use it as such. This is basically a replacement for lipstick for me. I always opt for sheer lipsticks because my lips are constantly chapped and anything with too much pigment sticks to dry patches/peels and is incredibly unattractive. Then I found this. It gives the nicest tinge of color that looks extremely natural and healthy. It's moisturizing and gives a bit of shine, which means my dry lips get conditioned, and the dry patches are sort of camouflaged. Even better, it's not sticky or tacky, which would be a deal breaker for me. Also, you can kiss or significant other or whomever you wish with this on and not worry about transferring color because it's so natural. All in all, this is a fantastic product that I will never be found without. It's probably not everyone's cup of tea, especially at the price point of $33, but for natural-look lovers, it can't be topped. Again, not a lip balm tho...

Worth the price, but wish it was a twist up!

I have very sensitive lips that are consistently dry, chapped and peeling, all year round. Therefore, I'm always on the hunt for miraculous lip balms that will do something lessen the cracking and peeling. I really hesitated on buying this product because it is so fanged expensive, but nothing else (eos, Vaseline, maybelline, all drugstore basically, bite beauty, fresh, etc) wasn't working. I took the plunge. And while this isn't a miracle product, it's by far better than anything else I've used. I use it before I go to sleep, I put this on, and next morning my lips are in wonderful condition and stay that way until about noon. Unfortunately, the packaging is not the most convenient and so I refrain from taking this around with me and rely on the other gazillion lip balms I have lying around to stave off cracking for the rest of the day. I still have some dryness and peeling throughout the day, but it's quite minimal when compared to before. Again, not a miracle product but it makes a significant difference, which makes it worth it to me.
