Beauty Product Reviews

if I could give this zero stars...

Believe everyone here who says this is a terrible brush, not just at this price point but at ANY price point. It was lovely until I washed it and it lost its shape, shed like crazy (I don't complain about a few hairs, this was a LOT), and worst of all, was incredibly scratchy. It's quite unpleasant to use on the face. I have $5 brushes that held up better than this one and deliver a soft touch and pigmentation at the levels I need.

I still have this thing but the thought of using it makes me cringe. The handle and ferrule are pretty but who cares when you don't want it touching your face?!

In conclusion: I wouldn't give this to my worst enemy.

amazing little workhorse

I'm surprised there are no reviews on this brush, so here we go. I bought my first one 4 years ago on a Sephora sale, on a whim (no longer available there). For reference, I have 300 high end brushes. This is literally the single best brush at picking up ANY type of texture and placing it precisely where you want it to go. You want metallic/shiny or glitter textures? Grab this guy. Want a dense application of shimmer in your brownbone? Look no further. How about a whispy application? Sure, no problem - just pick up less shadow or pigment. A blingy inner corner highlight? Again, why bother with anything else.

The shape is counterintuitive and it looked so flimsy when I first got it, so I put it away for a year, thinking it was a bad purchase. Then I gave it a shot and bam. This does not disappoint. I got a second one, and then a third. They're thin and a little on the short side so I was afraid I might lose one. I'm actually considering buying another, since I use these quite a bit.

At any rate, it's expensive but totally worth it. I've paid full price repeatedly because it's really that good. You don't need to foil shadows you might otherwise think you have to foil, that's how well this puppy deposits pigment.

I love it so and I really hope this works for you.

Best blender

I first got this brush as part of the WG eye set. I have since acquired hundreds of eye and face brushes. I have all the Sonia G goat hair brushes, the old Mac 217 goat, japanese-made blenders, synthetics, you name it. This is my absolute favorite blending brush of all time. There’s a rephr dupe but this still beats it. This takes the work out of blending. If you want a simple wash of color, a blend out of harsh blobs, smoke out the outer corner, basically anything that requires blending - this is your brush. Don’t even bother to test out others. I have 5 of these now because I use them daily and I do a lot of smokey eye looks.

My only reservation would be for those with small eyes or monolids. This might be too large, I don’t know. I have Caucasian hooded lids. I had a lot more real estate there when I first got these 3-4 years ago but they still do the job, even with the hoods.

I’m buying another.

Photo - I just washed them, oh well. But you’ll see similar shape with the rephr 01. I also have a 17 there for reference - possibly a little more suited for small eyes.

might be my all time favorite brush

I have a pile of brushes, off the top of my head - Wayne Goss, Sonia G, Chikuhodo, Hakuhodo, MAC, Suqqu, Surratt, Tom Ford, Marc Jacobs, Scott Barnes, Rephr, etc. I think this might be my new favorite brush of any kind, and that's no small feat. It covers my entire face for setting, but I also use it for diffuse highlight, blush, buffing, light dust of bronzer, finishing powder, and blending. It picks up color and deposits it, staying relatively clean. And it's so freaking soft - like a million tiny elves brushing their wings against my skin. I bought 2, gave one away, got another. I might get a 3rd, that's how awesome this is and because it's a holiday brush, it's not coming back. It's so great, it's so great - you need this in your life. Thank you and we love you, Wayne Goss!

spectacular set and spectacular customer service

I don't know which one takes the cake. I finally managed to get my hands on this set and waited with breathless anticipation. However, there was a problem with my order when it arrived. I called customer service, worried about how this would go down. I was SHOCKED when they took care of it completely without any issues. This is an expensive set and they just took my word that there was a problem. I couldn't believe it.

The brushes themselves are super soft and even though dubbed as a "pro" set, a novice could use them. I'm a makeup enthusiast and I have more brushes than I'll ever need in a lifetime, and the quality of these puppies is tops. The brush currently getting the most mileage is the INOCHIGE. I use it to blend to tone down blush and bronzer (I'm not happy unless I look like a clown at first and then blaze it down with setting powder). It also hugs my cheekbones and helps apply contour powder when I'm in the mood. I sometimes use it to set my undereyes. I have 10 brushes to do this with but the tip on this brush is just perfect for that. It's my current to-go brush for all of the above and if I'd known that in advance, I would have happily spent the money just on that. I know - crazy. But that's the value of this thing. The fact that I get 4 other brushes to play with at that price point is a joy and I can't wait to experiment, especially with that funky-shaped face brush.

perfection and time savings for my hooded eyes

These are soft, beautiful, amazing brushes! I'm 43 and in the last year, my hoodies got significantly worse, even with Botox (which used to correct them entirely). I can't do a winged line anymore, which used to be my signature thing, because it looks so droopy now. So I've started depending on eyeshadows to visually offset the hoods.

Out of the gate, these brushes cut my blending time from 10+ minutes to negligible and make applying eye makeup a pleasure instead of a chore. They're so different from anything I own. I can tell everything about them is a labor of love. They're shorter than any brush I have and very cute. The hairs are so soft. And they're beautiful as a set. Additionally, they do exactly what Wayne promised:

1) they pickup color quickly 2) very minimal fallout (even with shadows that normally do fallout) 3) blend BEAUTIFULLY

#18 is a great flat brush that I use on the lid #16 blends everything out so there are no lines #20 is for lower lid color #17+#19 are for medial and lateral hoodie color

I haven't tried them with my cream eyeshadows but if anything changes I'll report back.

Also, this was my first Beautylish experience and I loved how they packaged everything. There even was a handwritten note that I kept, it's so pretty. Everything was so beautiful and a very different experience from a makeup retailer I've been buying from for years. I'm so impressed with everything and I'll be back for more.
