While 2020 seemed like the year of sweatpants, baking out of boredom and Tik Tok dancing, some of your favorite celebs turned COVID times into cold hard cash with chart toppers and Emmy wins.
This Halloween, transform into the celebs that kept us entertained throughout quarantine. Read on for makeup looks inspired by the performers that truly won 2020.
This year, Zendaya made history as the youngest Emmy recipient for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. The talented starlet is known for her role as Rue in HBO’s “Euphoria,” but OG fans have been following her work since the “Shake It Up” days. To celebrate the starlet, I’ve recreated her iconic glittered, tear-streaming eyes for a Euphoria-themed Halloween look.
What You’ll Need:
With a flat brush, apply a shimmery light shade like Danessa Myricks Beauty ColorFix 24-Hour Cream Color Metallic in Ballerina to your lids.
Line your upper and lower lids with brown eye pencil and smudge.
Apply an iridescent pink-purple highlight shade, like Stila Glitter & Glow Highlighter in Queen, along your brow bone, cheekbone and along the bridge of your nose. Also apply the highlighter underneath the outer corner of your right eye to create a shimmery, wet-eyed effect.
Dip your flat brush into a glitter adhesive, then pick up a white iridescent glitter, like Lit Cosmetics Lit Glitter in Vanilla Ice. Gently pat the sparkles onto your lids. Don’t clear off any fall out, the more glitter the better.
On the highest part of your left cheekbone, apply additional glitter and add 1 holographic glitter star on top.
Picking up some clear gloss and with the doe foot applicator, create a tear-like stream of gloss going down the center of your left eye. Repeat application to intensify the wet look.
If this wasn’t your favorite song in 2020…don’t ~say so~ because I won’t hear of it. When I first saw Doja Cat’s “Say So” music video, I was instantly inspired by the revival of '70s beauty and style. My favorite look? Doja’s electrifying, green smoky eyes and bedazzled ensemble. Follow the steps below for retro peepers. Add glossy lips and rhinestone hoops to complete the look.
What You’ll Need:
Apply an eye shadow primer.
With a blending brush pick up a bright aqua eye shadow like shade 4 from the Editorial Brights palette to your creases. Blend well.
Using your flat brush, add a pale green shade like Matcha from the Dominique Cosmetics Latte 2 Palette to the center of your lids.
With a liner brush, blend the pale green shade onto your lower lash lines.
Apply an icy white cream color like Danessa Myricks Beauty ColorFix 24-Hour Cream Color Metallic in Glacier onto your tear ducts and inner part of your lids. Add to the inner part of your lower lash lines for an added shimmer effect.
With a liner brush, apply winged black liner to your upper lids.
Add a pair of voluminous lashes to finish off your eye look.
Line your lips with a soft beige liner like Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat in Iconic Nude, shading in toward the center of your pout.
Lady Gaga made a huge comeback with her electrifying album that brought a burst of much needed energy to 2020. She collaborated with fellow pop queen Ariana Grande for the song “Rain on Me,” a metallic-infused music video filled with plenty of outfit changes in true Gaga fashion. I especially loved the matching geometric eye looks the duo sported. This Halloween, recreate their looks with the friend you consider to be the Ari to your Gaga.
What You’ll Need:
Apply an eye shadow primer to your lids.
With a liner brush, trace your creases with a metallic white eyeshadow like the shade Yves from the Viseart Eye Shadow Palette in Sultry Muse. Start from your tear duct and drag the shade along your crease, continuing the line slightly past your brow.
Starting from the outer corner of your eyes, create white lines that connect your outer corner to your crease line. The lines should meet at a point.
Fill in the lines with your white eyeshadow to create a thick white liner effect.
Apply an icy-white metallic cream color like Danessa Myricks Beauty ColorFix 24-Hour Cream Color Metallic in Glacier on top of your eyeshadow application to intensify the design and let dry.Line your tear ducts with this metallic color.
With a dampened liner brush, trace your creases with a metallic white eyeshadow like the shade Yves from the Viseart Eye Shadow Palette in Sultry Muse. Start from the inner corner of your eye and drag the shade along your creases, continuing the line slightly past your brows.
