As we cope with widespread crises, healthcare workers continue to save lives by risking their own so we citizens can be well enough to create change in a world that is in desperate need of hope.

To our brave workers in clinics and hospitals: I can only imagine the physical strain and mental anguish you’ve felt as you carefully tend to patients infected with the novel coronavirus. Thank you for your incredible strength and selflessness during this precarious time.

After seeing shocking photos of bruised, scarred, and exhausted healthcare workers, I’ve rounded up six products to help treat skin damage and reduce pain from long shifts. Share with those who dedicate their lives to keep us safe, or give as a gift to the courageous frontline worker in your life. They certainly deserve it!

The Sacred Ritual Clear Quartz Facial Roller, $32

Medical face masks fit more tightly compared to your average cloth covering to better protect healthcare workers during risks of direct exposure. However, after hours of constant wear these airtight masks leave harsh lines, divots, and bruising. To help calm circulation-deprived skin, I recommend a gentle facial massage. Clear quartz helps de-puff and drain unwanted toxins, while cooling inflammation and improving circulation. This roller hugs facial contours to smooth skin and enhance absorption of subsequent skincare.

Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Hydra-Gel Eye Patches, $55

Taut masks can also dig into the sensitive eye contour area causing chaffing, creasing, and irritation. So, make sure to apply gentle eye treatments throughout the week to help calm and hydrate. I like Peter Thomas Roth’s Cloud Hydra-Gel Eye Patches that awakens fatigued skin while locking in moisture to smooth it out. Place these in the fridge and apply in the morning to start your day with a cooling burst of hydration.

La Mer The Concentrate, $190

This cooling serum from La Mer quells redness, irritation and inflammation for soothed, stabilized skin. I recommend storing the bottle in the fridge for chilled relief that helps constrict blood vessels to prevent broken capillaries.

Jouer Cosmetics Essential Lip Care Duo, $25

In a recent interview with Jouer Cosmetics founder Christina Zilber, I learned that the brand donated 10,000 lip enhancers to Cedars Sinai Hospital due to a request amongst medical staff for lip treatment. The Jouer Cosmetics Essential Lip Care Duo set includes a lip enhancer conditioning treatment and shine balm to give lips an added level of protection between skin and the environment.

Lord Jones Body Oil, $65

Along with body aches and pains resulting from round the clock work, constant hand and body washing can cause dryness, itchiness, and irritation of the skin. Luckily, the right body oil can bring major relief. Go for a formula that soothes, quenches, and alleviates muscle discomfort. Lord Jones Body Oil features a nourishing blend of avocado, hemp, jojoba, and coconut oils along with healing vitamin E to calm, rebalance, and normalize skin. The packaging features a massaging rollerball to target the oil on pressure points throughout the body and relieve tension.

The Sacred Ritual Bath Salt, $26

Frontline workers risk their lives to save others every single day, which can take a physical and emotional toll. Mental well-being is crucial during times of crisis, and that’s why it’s so important for healthcare workers to carve out at least 30 minutes of their day for rest and relaxation before bedtime. Featuring anxiety-relieving cedar wood, uplifting lavender and tension-busting Celtic sea salt, I recommend taking a long soak in the tub with Sacred Ritual’s Lights Out Bath Salt before bed to clear the mind and promote a good night’s sleep.
