Best Milan Spring 2012 Fashion Week Trends
Published Sep 28, 2011
Color reigned queen at London Fashion Week, but the designers in Milan took cues from Italian aesthetic, favoring texture, drama, and form over a diverse color palette. We recap the beauty trends from Milan to watch for this spring.
1. The Rocker Smoky Eye
Smudgy dark eyes were a popular choice in Milan. Charlotte Tilbury loved sparkly, messy eyes inspired by festival girls at DSquared2, and created sooty, charcoal-rimmed eyes at Iceberg. Hannah Murray channeled a bohemian rockstar groupie with glittery lids and a diffused navy lashline at Just Cavalli.

2. Modern Pulled Back Hairdo
To focus on the runway was definitely the face, so models were given ‘dos that kept hair pulled back in a stylish and unique way. At Moschino, a center part and braid was worn to bring attention to their deep smudged eyes. A Sicilian Sophia Loren inspired French twist style was used to give a classic and sexy look at Dolce & Gabbana. The messy wet-look chignon at Bottega Veneta helped accentuate the poolside chic looks on the runway.

3. A Natural Pout
A fresh and healthy pout was definitely on trend. Charlotte Tilbury paired a dewy sun-kissed look with a playful soft pink lip at Blumarine. Defined eyes were accented with a pale pink lip at Jil Sander. Tom Pecheux paired a graphic winged orange eye liner with a barely there lips at Marni.
