City Inspiration: London

London has long been the scene for cool new looks and cultural changes. Look at Kate Moss's shaggy haircuts, '60s model Twiggy's incredible painted on lashes and Princess Kate Middleton's understated elegance and classic makeup. As Kate and William invade the U.S. this week (as they continue their American tour), Beautylish takes a look at some London trends and how you can recreate them in your own beauty looks.

punk inspiration

In the city famous for Big Ben, London's underground punk scene is still booming and just as much of a tourist attraction as the old clock tower. Mohawks, ghostly skin, piercings and dark lipstick can transform you into a London punk rocker, but smaller changes show off the style too. For a toned down version of the punk trend, try a colored clip-in hair extension or wear a deep, plummy shade of lipstick.

Clear skin and huge eyes with lots of black liner are the look of choice for Britain's most famous supermodels—just look at Kate Moss and Twiggy. While Twiggy painted lashes around her eyes for a dramatic look, Kate prefers to line and smudge her pencil for a sexy, easy-to-wear look that can take you from day to night.

While Kate Middleton has taken the world by storm, the U.K. has always been home to the classic peaches and cream complexion. A pale, creamy skin tone and rosy cheeks are played up with pink blush, lots of mascara and shiny, healthy hair.
