Color-correcting your complexion just got a whole lot easier! We all know the benefits a healthy diet can have on your mind and body, but now nutrition-rich produce has been scientifically proven to boost your glow. According to a new study by the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, women who upped their fruit and vegetable intake for six weeks had a healthier skin tone. The reason for the natural flush? Certain produce contains pigments called carotenoids. “These red/yellow plant pigments are distributed to the skin surface when we eat fruits and veggies," said head researcher Ross Whitehead. Women who increased their produce showed a rosy tint, while women who did not had paler undertones.
So if you are looking for an all-natural, less expensive alternative to stocking up on pricey technicolored powers and creams, simply reach for a second-helping of carrots, strawberries, peppers—the options are endless! Guess it's true what they say: True beauty comes from within—literally!
