I know people with braces that eat everything they are not allowed to eat but I'm going to try my best to stick to the rules so that I get them off as soon as possible

Make sure your teeth are not whitened a while before and that they are the right colour for you this means that when they come off you won't be left with squares on your teeth. Eat lots of Pringles and digestives because they are painful when you get them. Don't worry about it I had them for two years and they were well worth it x

Be sure to always follow what your orthodontist suggests! If he says to wear the rubber bands all day, do that so you won't have the braces on for any longer than you need to!

I had braces for 6 years its worth the pain trust me, the day you get them place an ice cube on your tongue and let it melt helps with the pain :) oh and pain pills :p

Bring chapstick and apply while getting them put on. From having my mouth open for 2 hours, my lips split from being dry.

Eat billions of apples and take really big bites because after braces you will never know the sensation of biting an apple again

All the advice here is excellent. Another thing to note: you might notice you produce a lot more saliva than normal after they are on. This can result in some unfortunate drooling, so be aware of that. It gets better after a while, but it is a little embarrassing at first.

Eat a lot of caramel, and have as much fun as you can with lip colors now, because ou might not want to pull a lot of attention to your teeth when you get braces.

Haha I eat everything I'm not supposed to and my braces are fine just make sure your teeth are nice and clean before you go make sure to remember what it feels like to be able to run your tung over your teeth without having braces there ( I know that sounds weird)
Eat whatever hard food you want before your appointment because your teeth will be very tender after you get them on since your teeth are shifting and that will last for about a week:(
And after you get them on take something that will help with the pain
It's not painful getting them on its just painful after since there's pressure in your teeth I got some headaches to so just be carful with that
But other than that there not as bad as some people say:)

Also ask for some wax for your braces because they do tend to be sharper so they will poke at the inside of your cheeks until they get raw but with the wax it won't poke at the inside of your cheek

Buy some little brushes.. They look like toothpicks, you can get them at walmart. Because food will get stuck in them and you don't wanna be talking and everyone looking at what you just ate lol.
Good luck 😊

Eat apples! I don't think I've had an apple in 9 months 😔. Even after getting my braces off I'm
Still too nervous in case my teeth shift. Also give them a really good brush, you won't be able to brush them the way you normally would.

I had braces for six years, and I have had them off for eight... I still can't eat apples or corn on the cob. Just not used to that sensation any more. Plus, I have a permanent retainer on my bottom teeth that makes it difficult to bite into hard things like that.

When you go to get them wear something comfortable. Because you will be laying there for a while.

When you have them first put on, it'll feel like any pressure even biting on bread, will make your teeth fall out, so soft food and soup.
Any hard foods will have to be cut into very small pieces to stop the risk of the brackets coming off the tooth, so big mouthfuls til they go on. X

Make sure you take pain killers a couple hours before you get them on.

My son had braces for about 2 years and he got them off about a month ago. He never complained about them hurting and we were never told there were things he shouldn't be eating. I would say the most important thing we were told, was really good dental hygiene. I mean, my son didn't floss (this is a 13-15 year old we're talking about!), but brushing really well morning and night stops the gums getting swollen and inflamed. Sam's bottom gums were really quite puffy. We were also told that not keeping the teeth and braces clean were what contributed to squares on your teeth when the braces are taken off.
