I watched grav3yardgirl's video about then and from what I remember they look best with smaller pieces of hair.

Mine came with a photo booklet filled with tutorials and a DVD. I like working in small sections using the simple finger wrap method. I spray each section lightly just prior to rolling with Redken 28.
