Thanks Traci! I cleanse, tone, use Finacea Azeliac Acid Gel, and a moisturizer before I put on my makeup. Would I just add the spf to the end of that routine and continue with makeup or would I put that somewhere in the middle of my skincare routine?

I don't wanna bring it off topic but I keep this saved incase anyone asks:
Sunscreen soaks into the skin and finds it's way into the bloodstream. It can not be detoxified by the liver and can be detected in blood, urine, and breast milk for up to two days after application.
Nine of the 15 sunscreen ingredients are are chemicals that interfere with the normal function of hormones, endocrine disrupters. The hormones most commonly disturbed are estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, and thyroid. They can cause abnormal development of fetuses and growing children. They cause early puberty and premature breast development in girls, and small and undescended testicles in boys. They cause low sperm counts and infertility. Endocrine disruptors that act like estrogen can contribute to the development of breast and ovarian cancers in women, and other endocrine disruptors may increase the chance of prostate cancer in men.
chemical sunscreens function by absorbing UV light. Which get used up and mutate. Some generate DNA-damaging radicals that may lead to cancers.
Sunscreen companies have been found to have a LOT of ties to pharmacies and dermatologist, there has been scandals. There's no surprise that they ask you to use it. The disgusting part is they recommend you stay out of the sun, wait till you have a bunch of problems and then treat you with expensive high intensity UV treatments. If you look at melanoma skin cancer statistics over 80% of victims developed it from medical treatments and not natural sunshine.

Traci, if my sunscreen ingredients are avobenzone, homosalate, octisalate, octrocylene, and oxybenzone, which category does it fall?

Not to mention, considering we get 0 direct sunlight from October to May, it is very unnecessary! Chances are you're not even getting the vitamin d you need during this time (unless you eat three large salmon a day but let's be real here) so sunscreen in the winter is very pointless. It is a personal choice though. I understand if you want to wear sunscreen in the summer just on your face to prevent wrinkles, for vanity it's not as bad as applying it to your WHOLE body, especially if your face burns easy. But anything higher than SPF 15 is basically not needed.

Brittany I've never seen proof of it causing harm after entering the bloodstream. everything we put on our skin can enter the blood stream, including your everyday body lotion. I've been using sunscreen everyday for most of my life, especially in childhood when I'd be outside more, my mom always had me and my sister wearing sunscreen, we've never had any problems with it and I still wear it everyday. I live in Canada so in the summer it reaches +45C a lot and without sunscreen everyday, everybody would be burnt and would probably have melanoma. Just like those in Australia, who are exposed to so much high heat and sun rays. So SPF 15 isn't really helping unless it's November-march when it's snowing so it doesn't reach higher than 10 degrees C. Too much sun exposure is bad for people, like when I get too much sun I get really ill and puke, and it lasts for days after I'm out of the sun. When I'm wearing sunscreen I find I last a lot longer before feeling sick than when I'm without it. I don't think sunscreen does any harm, it's never been a problem with me or anyone else that I know. But too much sun does cause harm. There was a lifeguard at an outdoor pool here that sued last summer saying that the company he worked for wouldn't supply sunscreen, so he didn't apply any throughout the summer. And with 8 hour shifts everyday in the sun for 3-4 months at 40+ degrees C, he developed skin cancer and had the company pay for his treatments. I've never seen proof of sunscreen being harmful, I've never even heard of the idea. But saying it isn't needed is kind of bs.

Of course too much sun is bad for you that's a given, and this is exactly why I didn't wanna say anything. I literally refuse to argue about this any longer I've done it too many times.. All of the above HAS been proven.. But I will not continue this conversation

Hmmm that's interesting Brittany. I've never heard of any of that before. I guess there are risks either way. But if sunscreen helps prevent wrinkles, that's more than enough reason for me to use it lol! Thank you so much for sharing.

It's so great to see so many different opinions about sunscreen, especially with the spring and summer months coming up here in the states! Beautylish encourages the diversity of knowledge, ideas and beliefs and I know threads like these are very interesting subject matters, however sometimes it steers away from the question at hand which is Rose's need for the best sunscreen for her face.
Have you had any luck in your hunt, Rose? Some other options are always a physical mineral sunscreen like Peter Thomas Roth's Mineral Sunscreen (great for also reapplying over makeup) and to be on the safest side, Purple Prairie Botanicals Sun Stuff which is known to have nano zinc oxide in it so you're staying away from all the chemicals but avoiding the white goop residue that many zinc oxide sunscreens leave behind.
Not worried about chemicals in your sunscreen? Neutrogena Ultra-Sheer Dry Touch is my personal go-to!
Good luck in your hunt...looks like you have a lot of options and information to go by! xo

I love the la Roche posay they have facial sunscreen. No break outs, and great coverage plus they have a tinted one too.

I used to live in Singapore. It's smack right on the equator so oh glorious, glorious sun for 365 days. My sunblock/sunscreen of choice are from Shiseido and Paula's Choice.
