If the hair is dark brown youre better off using a blonde box dye to lift the color to a caramel/light brown versus if you just use light brown it might lift the hair color but not as much..from personal experience with box dyes and lifting color thats my best opinion. otherwise you can always go to a salon to have them lift it.

Color won't lift color! You will need to either strip it, or bleach it.

Thanks! I've had great results with these dyes in the past on my natural dark hair, however I dyed it a dark reddish brown a few months ago. I'll see a pro to be sure.
