Wear an spf. In the meantime you can exfoliate which could lighten you up a bit.

Wear a sunscreen that's a physical sunscreen and not a chemical one. Physical sunscreens have zinc oxide and/or titanium dioxide and they actually help to block the suns rays. Lemon juice is a sort of natural way to help lighten up for some although it didn't work for me. Try buying a body wash that has vitamin C in it as it helps. I wouldn't suggest trying to lighten up if you're still going to be in the sun because the lightening stuff makes your skin sensitive and more prone to tanning when you're in the process so you'd end up looking more tan

Sunblock instead of sun screen. Sunblock blocks all the suns rays where sunscreen lets them through.

I agree sunblock or SPF, but if you wear SPF do you reapply throughout the day? If you sweat or get wet you definitely have to reapply to be fully protected. Most sunscreens suggest reapplying every 2 hours.
