I tend to loose about 50 to 60 strands while shampooing it just looks like so much hair! I oil my hair n leave it for about an hour before shampoo n generously apply conditioner as my I have fine dry hair. I try n be as gentle as possible while shampoo but I don't know why I loose that much hair. I generally loose very less hair when hair is dry which is why I'm so confused. also my hair growth is very slow n less which makes me so worried at times... :'(

You have the same problem I do. OIL, that is what makes your hair fall out. I used to put coconut oil in my hair and I lost so much hair. Also, I used to go 1 to 2 days without washing my hair so that my natural oil would make my hair grow and it did but ever since I had my son it doesn't work anymore. When I did that my hair would fall out really bad. So I don't do that anymore. My suggestion is stag away from oils in your hair. You will probably notice the difference on a few weeks.

Your hair naturally sheds about 50 or so strands anyway.

It's unusual that oil would make your hair fall out.

Or maybe it's just me but my hairstylist also told me the same thing when he asked why my hair was falling out. I told him what I was doing and he said it can happen to some people.

Do you put the oil on your scalp?

Something else that also helped me was not conditioning my scalp, just like middle to the ends.

I put a little oil to my scalp but no rigorous massaging just gentle dabbing n ya conditioning only to the roots.

You should be using oil on only the ends and not the scalp. I would invest in a Wet Brush to reduce breakage and prevent snagging. I would also refrain from daily washing for a bit and increase my iron, vitamin e and vitamin d intake. Sleep with hair in a very loose braid or non-crimping loose bun. Lay low on heat for a while. Use a detangling leave in like it's a 10 as well. If the hair loss feels excessive, continues, or if you have further concerns, I'd recommend a blood panel from your doctor.

Salons comb hair wet. Your hair is styled during a blow out...and you pay for it. A Wet Brush or detangler and products like anti snap mean you need not damage your hair while combing. Working in small sections with no tugging or pulling works for most folks.

Yes oil can increase shedding if left on for longer than 30 mins.
