Looking for pictures that have soft grunge looks...maybe with a dramatic eye or lip? Pictures would help bunches ðŸ˜Š

Much like the smokey eye being incorrectly defined, I have to say that none of these looks are true grunge...Think Winona Ryder in the 90's. Drew Barrymore amped her grunge up often with leather or took the natural simplicity and flower route. Courtney Love did a punk infused grunge...but that was largely theatrical. They need to find another name to call these looks. :/ Eyes were minimal.

Yes! Even for Winona..that's a heavy eye. My guess is it is an artistic shoot. The looks they wore outside of magazines are a great reflection of what grunge was. Great pic of Winona BTW! She normally wore less black around the eye, but this is fabulous!!

Ohhh..I'd love to see that! It was common to wear minimal make up..or do a lined eye and soft lips...or a minimal eye and bold lips. Bridget Fonda was grunge in the movie "Singles". Winona in " Reality Bites" etc..Drew rocked grunge soft and flawlessly.

I absolutely agree with Rozberry,I know that Grunge had very limited makeup for girls but the Lipstick would be the only thing that really stood out,so that is why I'm confused with ladies talking about Grunge makeup now because it wasn't about a makeup look it was about the actual clothing style.I wouldn't look at fashion magazine covers or runway looks of the so called grunge style from the 90's because that in itself is just the glamorize version of the look that got so many upset back then because it was a false representation of the style. Your best bet it to look at female bands the were considered Grunge like Veruca salt,L7,The Breeder's,babes in Toyland,Hole and many more :)

Great post, Alma. I agree...many of the photos online are editorials...theatrical...and an exaggeration of grunge...which some people love as do I, but it seriously needs another name. "Singles" and "Reality Bites" have grunge styles true to the period. Damn great soundtracks as well. ;)
