I think it kinda does. I know there was this ONE time I didn't wear eyelid primer and my eyeliner didn't even last an hour or two before it started flaking and coming off. Elf has a really good eyelid primer and its only like $1-$3.

YES I think you need one if you want good color and staying power

It does if your wearing bright colors, like neons or pastels. It'll help the color pop more along with a white pencil. And depending on the shadow it'll aid in it not creasing through the day. I love my elf eye primer original, $1 and works amazing. That said half the time I forgot to even put it on :(

What raylene said. For my basic everyday neutral bronzey eye, I don't use a primer. But for my dramatic looks, either bright or dark, I do.

I find that it does, but I also tend to wear a lot of eye makeup daily. With primer, my makeup has lasted up to 19 hours, without it it tends to smudge in 2 or 3.

Primer is essential especially during the warm months when things tends slip and slide. lol if you don't have primers handy a little foundation helps. Xoxo.

Yes and no. Some of my shadows do not crease on my oily lids while some require a primer. I live in FL and during the summer regardless of brand/price point...primer is a must or else face an ugly mess.

I don't wear eyeshadow everyday, but when I do, I NEED my eye primer! it prevents creasing, makes the colour far more vibrant, helps it last for hours on end.. I definitely think eye primer matters (:
Urban Decay makes one of the best eye primers. it's about $21 & lasts at least 6months.

I find it helps a lot especially if you have oily lids. When I didn't wear primer my makeup would stay on fine but it would crease horribly. With a primer it doesn't crease at all and it also makes colours slightly more vibrant.

Deff worth. Not only to make it last but also for color pay off ^ like Kitty said.
Without primer, my eyeshadows are not as vibrant and they don't last.
With it, my eyeshadow lasts all day and the colors are intense. 💚

I always do, I just love the color payoff and adherence better. Even before there was primer, I used concealer on my lid.

I gind that it matters, the color is true to what it shows on the pan an it lasts longer and creases less I personally can't do my eyeshadow without a primer it just isnt the same thing at alll too me.

Whether or not an eyelid primer is worth the extra money and application step depends a lot on what your skin type is and how it behaves.
Personally, I always use an eyelid primer. This is mostly because my eyelids get pretty oily--strange, bit true. If I don't use a primer first, my eye shadow will crease and my eyeliner will transfer after I've only been wearing it for an hour or two.
On the other hand, I know several women who find that applying foundation and/or powder to their eyelids works just as well as using a primer. They probably have far more normal/dry skin than I do. But, if you can get by without spending money and time on yet another layer or product, why not?
