Take it from a college junior: no one cares what you wear. be comfortable and be you. that's all you can do.

I have worn my pyjama bottoms on occasion haha! They had the bagginess over the knee that you only get if you sleep in them llol! Anyway I'd go for comfort: it's hot I'd wear a dress with sneakers, if it's coldish jeans and a t-shirt and a sweater :) Don't even worry though, Hannah and Em have it right!

Wear one of your favorite outfits you feel confident in! And I'd definitely suggest comfortable shoes, like flats or flip flops/sandals, sneakers. What I wear during classes is jeans and cute tops, dresses in the warmer weather, and cute jackets for fall. I bet most people will be wearing jeans. Good luck!

Well yes, I totally agree with Emily here. I mean just go for something that makes you feel comfortable and confident..and if I helps I'm going of to college too and I'm going to wear a skater dress, a messenger bag, knee-socks and my Steve Madden boots ☺️

I totally agree with hannah. in college you don't have the pressure to dress to impress.like in high school where people care about what you wear.
first day of college most people don't put effort into their outfit. however, you can't go wrong with a pair of jeans, cute top and sandals.

I guess it depends on the type of school you go to because at the college I went to, the ladies wear a full face of makeup, their hair is done to perfection, and the wear their best outfits everyday (heels included). Def a fashion show at my alma mater haha. We work hard and look good doing it lol.

What Hannah said rings so true at my college. but it also depends. you need to get the feel of the atmosphere at your college first. so I say go safe and wear a cute outfit and then wait a while and see if the girls at your college go the whole 9 yards with their appearance or nah. I swear the only makeup the girls and put my college know how to put on is mascara haha.

My school is the same as Mallory's. Not all schools are places where you don't need to dress to impress, or where people don't dress fashionably (of course that is entirely up to the individual) and I agree with Melanie with seeing how the atmosphere is! Can't go wrong with jeans though!

Ladies, I go to the University of Miami. I'm well familiar with the girls who wear full faces and heels to classes every day. My point is that usually in college you're not judged for not doing so. Whether or not looking all dolled up is your style, no one is going to call you out on what you're wearing. The nice thing about college is that everyone is an adult. Whether you choose to wear heels and skirts, or jeans and sneakers, no one is going to act snarky towards you for dressing the way you dress, even if it's the opposite of the way they dress. I'm not suggesting to dress like a slob, I'm suggesting being comfortable, which is truly the most important part of college.

Absolutely just wear wear makes you comfortable. in my college, if you wear a dress or heavens forbid heels, you are seen as absolutely trying too hard trying to get the attention of men. it's ridiculous. So sometimes I stick out like a sore thumb because I wear makeup and dress nicely. Everyone here wears the most casual clothes they can most of the time. Just be comfortable being you, even if someone wants to judge you for it.

But...nobody said anyone would call you out for not dressing in style! We all said to dress how you want and just made conversation about our own experiences! Were all basically saying the same thing! No need to get in arguments, ladies 😊

It doesn't hurt to look presentable on the first day in class. You will meet your professors and you should make a good impression; you never know if you'll need to cultivate a relationship with them later (for letters of rec, etc.).

Yeah Hannah gets it! I think the main point though is you don't have to worry about how you look as much but, it doesn't hurt to look your best!

Ah, clearly I stand corrected then: not everyone who goes to college acts like a mature adult. My apologies, Amanda, I didn't realize.

Let me make myself 100% crystal clear: I am not fighting with anyone here. I am not attempting to argue. I am trying to rephrase myself so that everyone understands what I am saying, with zero intention to offend. If anyone who was actually a part of that conversation wishes to let me know that they are upset about it, I will happily listen.
