its natural for hair to shed on a daily basis, its not uncommon.. now when chunks or if your are noticing your hair is starting to visibly thin then there might be something you need to look into. other than that dont stress about it, stressing causes all shorts of issues lol!

Well when I get outta the shower there's tons of hair -.- and when I brush my hair as well. I think it's normal as long as it grows back :)

You have to be more specific, I'm afraid. Does it fall out in chunks? Or do you just lose a lot of hair strands by barely pulling it when showering and brushing your hair? Because if it's the latter one, that happens to me too, and my mother. I think it's normal, ESPECIALLY if you have a lot of hair to lose. But again, I'm not sure, can you explain how much you lose, and how you lose it? (when someone drags it, brushing, washing it etc)

My hair sheds all the time. After I take a shower and clean my hair from the drain it looks like a drowned sewer rat. I have super thick hair though. It's been this way my whole life. It's normal to shed hair daily. Like Ashley said, if its coming out in clumps or your hair is visibly thinning then seriously look into it.

I was actually thinking about this the other day. I have quite long, thick hair and it gets everywhere. My mum says with the amount of hair I shed I should be bald :p Is there anything that can be done to prevent it or at least lessen the amount of hair being shed? My hair is already thick but it would be nice if it could be thicker! And Pam that's interesting because I do have a slight iron deficiency.

I have a major iron deficiency and my hair falls out in chunks if I run my fingers through, I started taking vitamins and such everyday and I get basically no shedding except for the occasional daily ones

My hair has always shed, especially when I was younger. My mom was always worried. It didn't come out in big chunks, but it was a lot of strands that would/will come out.

Normal for hair to fall out after childbirth, due to hormones. I'm struggling with my hair falling out, am trying to do a combination of birth control, spironolactone, and now Propecia, but you're probably not as extreme as I. Although I've learned that hair loss in women is more common than most care to talk about. I've taken vitamins everyday, and even though some might be helped with vitamins, a hair loss problem involves the hair follicle's response to DHT, and how much testosterone is converted to DHT, since this hormone is what attacks hair follicles. Happens at all ages. Washing hair more or less doesn't affect hair loss, neither does hair products, and special shampoos don't work either, because it's only the outside that is washed, where hair loss is happening on the inside. I know, probably too much info, ha. Women's hair loss reasons are more complicated than men's. If you think it's a real problem, and notice more and more hair falling out, see an endocrinologist who specializes in womens hair loss, or a doctor that does the same. Dermatologists are not much help, since they only treat the surface, and will probably suggest you use Rogaine.

Shedding is totally normal. You naturally loose 100-150 strands a day, and sometimes ( if you have your hair up or dont thoroughly brush it) these loose strands will accumulate. So when you wash your hair or finally give it a good brush, it looks like a ton is falling out, but really its just your normal shedding. The only thing I would be concerned about is if your noticing your hair is a lot thinner than normal, or you have patches of bald areas... if that's the case go see your doctor and see whats up!

Thank you this made me feel better plus I did read somewhere today about how you will lose a little of hair after you have a child so that would explain it too lol I'm not worried though because my hair doesn't seem to be thinning it looks pretty healthy and full still lol

I lose so much hair everyday I could probably make a wig. ;) My fiancé always jokes that I shed more than our dog. It's totally normal especially if you have very thick hair like me.
