If you're good at doing your own make up, does that necessarily mean you'll be good at doing other peoples make up? I know you have to learn to recognise what looks good on different skin types and shapes. Can I have some advice and tips from anyone who's a make up artist place as I've just started a course.

I'm no professional, but I'm a huge fan of makeup & I think doing it on others is harder, but by no means is it impossible! You just have to get the hang of it (: I recommend studying about the products, different skin types, how to work with different complexions, and all that (:

I'm going to say no.
I'm not a professional, but I do like to think I know a decent amount about makeup. you can be great at doing your own makeup, but you're only working with one specific kind of skin tone/undertone/type, face shape, etc.
when working on other people, like Katelyn said, you need to know what kind of foundation to use with what skin type, what colour corrections to use with what imperfections, how to contour that specific face shape, etc. honestly, it just takes practice & education (: far from impossible. especially if you're already in a makeup course. good luck!

Great tips Jacqueline! Especially the mascara tip! It's always so hard to put mascara on somebody! Super helpful!

I'm working to become a professional makeup artist right now. I'm doing online school which has helped me tons about learning how to work with different face shapes, skin types and skin colors. It's all just about practicing, practicing and practicing.
