Hey y'all, I'm thinking about finally caving and getting some Mac makeup. Most of you probably know that I'm not very into Mac, most of the things I've tried from them have been pretty disappointing, but I haven't bought anything from them in probably three or four years.
I DO like the Pro Longwear concealer, it's pretty great, so I'd rather no one suggest that please (I'm looking for things I don't already have).
so my questions are:
What are your opinions on their stuff? What are your experiences. Tell me everything you think someone should know about Mac before buying anything.
What things do you recommend to me? I'm not into neutrals, so unless there's something neutral that's truly SPECTACULAR, I'd rather not hear suggestions for that, either.
Thank you so, so much ladies, I can't wait to hear what you have to say!

I've only started getting into mac (money) and one thing I've been told is be careful with their ace products (foundations, powders etc.) because they break people out easily.
Their lipsticks are amazing! I have Ruby Woo (blue toned red), Chatterbox (warm toned pink) and Pink Nouveau (bright pink).
I've also heard that their eyeshadows are great, pigmented and creamy.
Hope I helped a little :)

Thanks Chelsea, I'm nervous about their lipsticks because I find them to be really, super drying (or at least, the ones I've tried). I'll go look at them again though, for sure
I forgot to mention that I don't actually wear face products, so I'm not worried about that either but thank you so much =)

I don't like MAC products at all. I think they are way overpriced & I'd rather spend my money on urban decay.

See, Brandy, that's how I feel! I'm a total Urban Decay junkie but the thing is that I keep feeling like I'm missing something! Everyone talks about Mac like it's the greatest thing since sliced bread, and some part of me keeps thinking that I'm just missing the hype and need to try harder!

I'm really just interested in some of their pigments, paint pots and the rocky horror show lipsticks for the packaging lol. I have a cream highlighter that I like as well.

Oh and that one aqua line they released with the water droplets on it.. super cute packaging, and some of their brushes such as the 217 which is literally my workslave. Thats as far as my 'love and hype' for MAC goes lol.

As for their lippies I feel like they just look like crayons on my lips =\ Maybe try their glosses?

I do wonder about the paint pots, actually...hmmm. I probably will go check those out, they seem useful.

Thanks, Alexis! Their blushes are another thing I've just never given any thought to, but I'll go look at them and see what I think =) and I'll look at Stars and Rockets, I'm a sucker for purples! and Fix+...what is it, exactly?

Maybe try avoiding their matte lipsticks but the colors are awesome! I've had much more drying lipsticks before, these are much better than I thought and I can apply them easily on the go without exfoliating. Try Rebel. I'd like to know how it goes for you, I know that the color would look amazing on you, we'll see about how you like it :)
Oh, and I use their Paint Stick in Dark Brown in very tiny amounts to contour. It works wonders!!
And I agree with Kitty, the 217 brush is the best blending brush I own.

Thanks y'all, I'll definitely look at these things and let you all know how it goes for me =)

Their bluebrown pigment is gorgeous! You should check it out :)

I've heard a lot about that, but I have a Too Faced shadow that apparently gives the same effect, so I think I might end up passing. I will look at their pigments, though, if you have any other color suggestions =)

The rose pigment is very pretty, cranberry eyeshadow and the paint pots are good. :)

So far what I've tried from mac are prolong wear foundation which I really like provides medium coverage but can be built up to full. Its good for oil control and hasnt broken me out (I have VERY sensitive skin btw) the blot powder is excellent too. I have about five of their lipsticks, two mattes which I find not to be drying on me! The colours are velvet teddy and fashion revival. I have an amplified finish in girl about town and a creme sheen in creme cup. My favourite finish is amplified which has excellent coverage and moisturising formula. I have one shadow in satin taupe and I don't like it, it doesn't blend easily, poor pigmentation and creases like crazy despite using a reliable primer (urban decay primer) I'm not interested in trying anymore colours because of this :/ I've also tried a mascara from them called extended play gigablack lash which is great for bottom lashes because of its small wand and stays put with no smudging despite not being waterproof. I also have a few lipliners which I like too. oh and I've a few blushes which are ok not amazing or anything! hope I've helped somewhat :)

Mac is the best brand ever all people talk about breaking them out it's just the way that they use the product I see girls use studio fix collection as their everyday makeup and this is totally wrong "studio fix" it's very clear from its name it's for studio events pictures parties stuff like that so don't complain when you use it as everyday makeup the second thing I want to talk about is what I've from mac and what I love I've never been disappointed by their product and what I really really really love is their skin refresher/finishing mist which named mac fix+ I highly recommend it also their eyeshadows they have the best shadows you never believe until you try also their lipsticks if you find them drying don't buy the matte once they have many types which can be hydrated and matte at the same time it called Amplified also their highlighters are so good if you want to buy I recommend soft and gentle or lightscapade and their highlighter pen it's so soft for everyday use and about their brushes I've heard that they are the best it's better than sigma's brushes but to be honest I've never bought them I think they're too expensive but I'd love to... I just think that everything in this brand is so good and that's just my opinion :)

217 brush is soooo good also! love it for blending eyeshadow.

Thank you so, so much ladies! it is unbelievably helpful to hear all of your opinions, thank you so much for taking the time to answer (and especially the time to try and actually convince me, because that's what really matters =) ) It's great to hear that some of you absolutely love Mac, and I'm glad that you do, so maybe if I try more of their things I'll see what it is that you all are talking about!
Things that are currently in my cart:
-Paint Pot in Painterly (should I try this color or a different one?)
-the 217 brush (I do actually like Mac brushes, they're nice)
-Stars N Rockets eyeshadow (which looks really pretty, so fingers crossed it isn't chalky or patchy the way the last Mac shadows I tried were)
-Rebel lipstick (which I'm interested in the color of, and nervous about the formula, but it's not a matte so hopefully I'll be okay)
What do we think? Anything else? Anything I don't need? Any changes?

I love their color products (eyeshadow, blush, lipstick, liners, etc.) but I'm not a fan of their foundations. Their mineralized skin finishes are gorgeous though

Hmmm...I just...all of the eyeshadows I use are already so bright, I'm not sure it would be a good investment. Maybe for foiling, or if they sold like a little tiny mini bottle? I'll check, and if they have a travel bottle I might consider getting it. I'm just so torn...does it work nicely with Sugarpill pigments, does anyone know?
