I'm going to dye my hair tonight and trying to make the least amount of mess I'm in a very temporary place so I don't want to get dye all over everything like I have done in my past apartment :/ and its black hair dye.

In the past I used to go buy shower curtain liners from the dollar store and lay it out on the floor to catch any drips or spills. After application I just threw it out since it was only a buck, but you could probably spray it off and save it to use again in the future if you wanted to as well. As for counter tops and the sink (assuming you're doing your hair in the bathroom) I spread out and overlap old newspapers. Hope your application process goes smoothly and is as mess free as it can be.

Thank you I will actually look into the shower curtain liner when I get a new apartment but where I'm staying now I would have to walk 5 miles or more to get to dollar tree lol and the bathroom is so small it has no tub and when you sit on the toilet you hit the sink! lol but hopefully we will be getting a new apartment come January

Is it winter where you are? I sometimes take a big standing mirror outside, stand it up in the driveway, put down newspaper and do it out there. If you live in an apartment building and can get onto the roof that's a good place for being messy, too.

Yes its winter here and its so cold!! lol and right now I stay in an efficiency so I don't really have a roof I could go in but I am going to try to stand in the shower while my husband does my hair and I am going to hope he takes his time he gets pretty messy lol.

Lay out a big garbage bag or two on the groud or even on the sink? I've only had one experience with dye and it was very messy (my mon could have killed me that day lol). That newpaper idea is great too.

I just wear a shirt that I don't really care about. I use the gloves and I'm careful with the dye, it doesn't really ever get messy unless some dye drops onto my bed, floor or something.

That shower curtain idea is brilliant! Definitely could've saved my black bath rug from getting orange spots (dripped bleach)...
