Does putting mayo in your hair really do anything for it?

Yes, it revives it after a few applications and although it has a smell to it, it hydrates it, makes your hair less frizzy and shiny!

I've never heard of that.. Sounds strange lol I wouldn't be able to, I hate mayo so much. Following this though because I'm interested in seeing what it does.

Mayo has many oils into it. When you let mayo sit and never use it the oils are on the top before stirring it. I'm not a expert. Maybe the oils are good for your hair but I'm thinking it's just going to make your hair greasy.

Yep it does. Mayo is often used as a deep conditioning treatment. I just used on my hair last week haha.

Mayo is made of egg whites (protein) and lots of oils (which are awesome for moisture). I have done a Mayo mask... Couldn't take the smell but my hair did feel and look ahhmazing afterwards. Now to get the same affect I just do a mask with just some egg whites and coconut oil mixed together. Smells not as bad, but when you rinse you have to be sure you use cold water otherwise you will cook the egg into your hair lol

When I had head lice when I was 8 or so I had to do a mixture or the treatment with vinegar and mayo, wrap my head in a plastic wrap and sleep in it. WORST SMELL EVER. But as it got rid of the lice, my hair also never felt healthier and silky smooth.
Although I haven't tried it willingly, (the consistency makes my stomach whirl) it does wonders.

I love the smell of mayo! I put in my hair once but couldn't tell if it did anything- it did make me hungry. How long should I leave it in? Just do the tips or all over my head? Thanks!

I tried it once and the smell got to me, I thin it was only in for 5-10 minutes before I had to wash is, I use egg whites, avacado and coconut oil and blend it to a mayo consistencey and slather that in, smells much better and I keep it on till my hair gets hard like a helmet then wash it out with luke warm water then condition after then wash that out and your golden. 2 eggs, one avacado and half a cup of coconut oils gives you enough for three-four hair masks just store it in your fridge :)

Thanks everyone! Should I make my hair damp before applying?
Dec 30, 2014
Shanae J.
No, keep it dry! That's what I do, and I get my best results when it's dry

Mayo has eggs in in it and eggs even though they're really good for the hair they tend to fade your dye so if you have colored hair I would recommend not using it
