Client look. Thoughts?

I got such a great response from all you sweet ladies on my first post (new PMUA here) that I thought I would ask yalls opinion on a look I did for a client. She was doing a boudoir shoot for her husband and she asked for a 50's pin up look. I feel like I didn't do so great with the winged liner but I'm pretty self critical.
So for her foundation I used VooDoo brand. This is a brand created by my makeup school instructor, who is a celebrity artist herself. It's not in stores so sometimes I just have to explain that it's just VooDoo makeup.
I used RCMA's highlight and contour palette for both highlighting and contouring.
For her blush I again used a VooDoo color. I made sure to keep it directly on the apples of her cheeks to keep with the 50's style.
On her eyes I chose Lorac Pro palette. For her lids I used the gold color, then I dabbed the color Slate in her outer corner and softly blended it halfway down her lid with the gold color. I used a very light ivory color in the Lorac palette for her under brow highlight.
And of course I had to do red lips! I went to the trusty color Ruby Woo by Mac, with Brick as the Lipliner.
Her lashes got a coating of Dior mascara, and I used Kat Von D's tattoo liquid liner for her cat eye.
Something about the look feels off balance to me but I don't know. I would love to hear what you ladies think.

While I love your color combination, the application feels very heavy-handed to me while the blush doesn't seem to be serving to highlight the cheekbone or apple. Perhaps it is just my personal taste. I adore this lip color on her. Her skin looks very smooth...lovely foundation application.  :)

Thank you! It was an odd blush application since I was trying to do something totally different than normal by keeping it directly on her apples to give her the 50's pin up look she asked for. It was a weird process. At least I got some practice in and maybe the next time someone wants a period look I can learn from this!

I think it's the brows. Those brows are so heavy and in combination with the doll cheeks, the big doe eyes and the over drawn lips it's just too much. I think if she were doing it again, you could glue down those brows completely and draw some fake pin up brows or glue them down partially leaving a much thinner brow behind.

Hope this doesn't sound too critical. I think you did really well on all the individual components but combining them with that heavy brow was the problem.

No it doesn't sound critical at all! I totally asked for constructive criticism. I absolutely agree with you about her eyebrows. I wanted her to get them waxed but she (understandably) didn't want to wax the same day as the photo shoot. I didn't know how to do the technique you described above so I just went on with the application in spite of the rather large brows. Thank you for that info! That will help me enormously if I come across this problem in the future. 😃

@Jenny...oh no! Not the dreaded Elmers glue trick. Kryolan Eyebrow Plastic is the way to go. Its a putty but it allows you apply face product (concealer and foundation directly over it and then you set it with powder). I've seen this stuff in action and its far better than Elmers Glue.
@Kathryn...awesome look you created though I do see see some blotchy spots in the chin area with sections are lighter than the rest of the skintone. Don't knock yourself out over the winged eye. Practice makes perfect. ;)
