I'm debating on doing cosmetology and esthetician program because I want to be a make up artist and I feel like I won't enjoy doing cosmetology.

I do esthetics I graduate in a few weeks and love it. I have a job lined up at my family friends office she's a cosmetic facial surgeon so I'll be working with her and get laser certified so that's always a great way to go and it can be a lot better money. I also am about to take more advanced makeup classes, get certified in lash extensions and I am a spray tan tech so there really are so many ways you can go and extra certifications to expand your business and income. I can't help you with which one to choose though you have to go with your heart. I was between the two really badly but I'm very happy with my choice.

I'd definitely look into what Jacqlyn said though cuz its very possible the schools near you may have different rules.

If you're strictly interested in the makeup side of things, I'd go for the esthetician program over cosmetology. I have my cosmetology license and it was a two year program. We spent maybe three weeks learning about makeup? The rest was dedicated to hair and nails. Don't get me wrong, it certainly helps. My license is what got me a job with bareMinerals, but if you're not interested in hair or nails, you'll be bored out of your mind.

I'm interested in all programs of beauty and will hopefully go to school for all of them how long is each program like how many years until your certified?
