Hi Jewel! Welcome to beautylish. :)
I think you did fairly well for being a beginner actually. I do think they could be a bit more blue/purple in color because the ones on the hands look like hickies if I'm being honest haha, but I'm no expert and I think this was an awesome first try!

Depending on the age of the bruise, these can and do look realistic.
Bruising occurs when blunt force causes bleeding under the skin. When the injury is new, the blood is highly oxygenated and is bright red under the skin, creating a red bruise.
After a few days, swelling around the bruise cuts off oxygen to the pooled blood, causing hypoxia. As the blood loses oxygen, it takes on a blue hue and the bruise turns purple.
After a few more days, the swelling goes down and the body begins breaking down the hemoglobin to be reabsorbed. The bruise takes on a brown color.
Finally, as the trauma heals and the broken down hemoglobin is reabsorbed into the body, only yellowish/greenish plasma remains and the bruise turns yellow before disappearing.

Whoops, I wasn't very clear. You didn't *need* more colors, if you were going for a fresh injury. I was trying to give the timeline to show that bruises aren't always purple.
Glad it helps.
