I'm your average teenage girl with acne. I've tried a bunch of things but nothing seems to work long term. I'm skeptical about proactiv; not sold on trying it out. Any at home remedies or holy grail products?

I have dry dry skin and have extremely sensitive skin (to the point where real aloe hurts to put on parts of my face). ANY RECOMMENDATIONS WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED!!!

Use Clean and Clear morning burst (All kinds work great) daily and nightly. Stick with it to see results. They have gift sets for about $5 with a cleanser, a scrub, and oil blotting sheets that works great. Try It out.

It doesn't work THAT WELL. To reduce redness put honey all over the affected areas and it'll make your skin glow. Also get the clean and clear moisturizer and it also treats acne!

I have really oily skin an I use a lemon wedge and honey and cinnamon mixed in a paste. I wear it overnight and when I wake up and wash my face the acne is less red and bumpy.

Try Pan-oxyl. It truly does work IF used twice a day. You have to stick with acne regimens. Give it time to work. Once you lather your face with the wash, let it sit on your skin for 60 seconds, that was the medicine has time to penetrate your pores. Pan-oxyl is sold at CVS, Walgreens and Wal-mart for about $8.. Give it a try. It's the only face wash I use.

I have suffered from forehead acne for a long time about 4 years, and I have only just now fixed it. I drink plenty of water, keep my hair off of my face and use st.ives green tea scrub and an aveeno face wash every night. I have tried proactive, and it has not worked at all for me. I recently picked up at target this cream that contains 10% benzoyl peroxide, and it is AMAZING. kills pimples hella fast! It's called persa gel I believe, by clean and clear! It was only about 8$ so definitely try it! But if you do, don't get it in your eye or around it. I irritated my eye the first time I used it.

I use coconut oil at night. It helped clear up my super dry areas and calm the redness in my cheeks. I've noticed I haven't been breaking out as much with using it. It's also made my skin brighter.

For acne I'd try to find all natural brands to help your skin. All those chemicals in the cheap brands can really harm the skin. Even then, you want salicylic acid in concentration form to help your affected acne areas, not all over your face.

Try taking a zinc supplement, it helps your skin to heal faster. I'm 26 and have mild adult acne and have tried everything. Zinc has been the best thing yet as it seems to stop spots before they get red and if I do get a really bad spot it heals really quickly. X

Birth control! Avoiding products with non-comedogenic ingredients (easy to look up list online), a good moisturizer, one with hylauronic acid or just one that works, spironolactone, BENZOYL PEROXIDE 5-10%, avoiding products with sodium chloride, cetearyl alcohol, sodium laurel sulfate, and so many more. You'd be surprised at how many comedogenic ingredients are in products that are sold as acne fighting products. Also, avoid coconut oil and algae as well. And just because a product is marketed as 'natural' does not mean that it is better for your skin. Use a gentle cleanser, not a harsh acne wash.

I have very similar skin and really sensitive skin too and the best thing I've done is put boiling water and lavender (or just lavender oil) in a bowl and hold my face 20cm away from the water with a towel over your head to keep the steam in, do this for 3-2mins and it will completely open your pores. Then use a really gentle cleanser to wash your face (make sure your hands are really clean or just use a facecloth) and finish with splashing your face with cold water and instead of rubbing your face with a towel, just pat it dry. Hope this helps. :)

Has anyone tried tea tree oil?

Tea tree oil is very good for skin with acne. It is an antimicrobial, and will help dry the acne and keep it from spreading
