At a farmers market recently, I found soap made with goat's milk, lavender, and charcoal. The #1 purpose of the soap was to help keep your skin's pH balanced, which I definitely think it does. Balancing the pH keeps my skin from drying out, which keeps it from getting oily spots, which in turn leads to less acne. So, I guess I haven't really answered your question about African black soap, but hopefully I've given you another alternative to consider. (It makes my skin soooo soft too!)

Real African Black Soap.

I hope I can help!
African black soap is only really useful if you buy the REAL soap. Real african black soap is brown in colour. If the soap is black then it's not pure and does not have all those nutrients. I will post a picture on what you should look for. I don't believe it helps with acne scarring. It is meant for people with extremely oily skin and/or acne. I have sensitive skin and it made my skin burn like I was on fire. My boyfriend uses it and absolutely loves it and it has dramatically helped his acne but it dries out the skin a lotttt so you have to moisturize right after using it. A soap I personally love is Pine Tar soap. It's super gentle and amazing for your skin.

Tea tree oil should be diluted 1 part water, 1 part tea tree oil. I would use it has a spot treatment but you can use it anywhere on your body. You can also check out witch hazel. You would want to dilute this with water as well but it's great as a spot treatment and you can use it as a toner as well because it balances out the ph balance in your skin.

I love African black soap to use on my body but it was awful for my face! My face broke out so much and I use to have flawless clear skin :( Be careful if you're going to use it on your face.

Honey is an anti-bacterial. I have super oily skin, and I've been using Alaffia liquid black soap (unscented) and I love it. It's worked great for me, and hasn't dried me out.

I'm not sure why fragrance is necessary or why the first ingredient is honey :/ but here's a link to the tub I have. I'm pretty sure there's only one ingredient which may explain the favorable results. Good luck!

I have sensitive combo skin and the African black soap dried me out beyond belief. If your skin is sensitive I would be very careful. Not only did it dry me out beyond belief it made me break out like no other. I would be extra careful changing up more than one thing at a time in your skin care routine I would do one first wait 30 days and add in the other too much change at once might not be good for you skin especially depending on how your skin reacts to both. If your skin has a reaction you won't know to which one either.

I havent used tea tree oil but I have been wanting to try it out because like you, benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid haven't been working for me. I have used African black soap though. I got the one from costal scents in the liquid form. It has a couple different ingredients than yours though. I will attach a screenshot of the ingredients for you :) I have been using it for about 3 months and it hasn't made my acne worse...but it hasn't made it better. I still have half the bottle left and I will continue to use it on my face and body (where I have a little bit of acne) because I like the way it makes my skin feel clean without drying it out. I do have oily skin so I am not 100% sure how it will work on someone with dry skin but it seems gentle enough that it won't dry it out.

I got mine from Coastal Scents and although I like it, I have to use it sparingly because it does dry my face out. I heard it helps with acne but other than a little breakout here and there I don't deal with acne on a regular basis in order to give you an honest review in that :)

That certainly looks more pure than the ones in the store. Does it have ingredients listed?

I bought a bar of it that looks like this.

Depends on the form your soap is in. Mine is a thick, gel like consistency and I love it (though not usually for my face-I do find it drying) my friends have purchased the bar and other forms from the drugstore to no avail

I've been using benzoyl peroxide and salicidic acid acne treatments for years with no help. So I've decided to switch up my routine and ordered african black soap and tea tree oil online and I have a few questions on both..
-does african black soap help with acne scars?
-does it dry out the skin?
-I know to dilute the tea tree oil with water, but how much do I actually use? Do I apply it to the whole face, or as a spot treatment..
-can I use tea tree oil on body acne also? (my chest, shoulders, and back)
I've never used these types of products so I'm completely clueless! Any other imput would also be appreciated
