I really love doing makeup, I just want some tips on how to put myself out there as far as advertising and marketing. I've done some events at my job but I need more experience and I really would love to make money doing what I enjoy, although I'm only 16. I just need some advice, I also need help making a makeup kit for free lance makeup. please give me suggestions.

You could start a tumblr or blog to showcase your skills and help friends with makeup and they'll spread the word through word of mouth :)

My daughter is 14 and making a decent income as a MUA. She is self-taught but has an advance art background in watercolor, oil and charcoal. I will warn you up front that because of your age you will come across some cold people with heartless opinions about MUA's who are in your age bracket. Some will even ask of they have to pay because of your age. So if you don't have a strong shell to handle the negative comments you will not last. My daughter started out by passing out flyers at school and at local hair salons. She joined a networking group that is predominantly geared towards "adults". They saw how serious she was and her business just kinda took off from there. She also connected with professional photographers which led to paid gigs. As far as supplies for her kit she has disposable mascara wands, q-tips, hand sanitizer, moisturizers (one for oily skin and another for dry skin), primers (silicone-based and non-silicone). She doesn't have too many drugstore items but the one's she does have is lippies from NYX and Milani. Ben Nye face powders. That's just what I know off the top of my head. Her work supplies fill up half her room and I don't even know all that she owns.

Oh be very careful of posting your work on social media sites as there are people who will steal pics and claim it as their work. My daughter doesn't post any of her work for that very reason and watermarks aren't even iron clad protection since there are programs available to remove them.

I definitely suggest joining In My Kit on Facebook and reading all of the info they have available there.
