How to protect hair from coloured hairspray.

I wanted to use a red colour hair spray on my hair for halloween but I've read people say it's stayed in they're hair longer then one wash. ( I have full head bleached blonde highlights ) I was wondering if anyone knows anything I could put in my hair to protect it, so I could wash it out the next day.

I used orange hairspray once and it took about a year to fully wash out (sounds excessive, but the colour stained my hair). I'd try putting conditioner on the highlights so it doesn't stain.

Maybe conditioner to act as a barrier between the hair and spray? Not sure if it'd adhere right, though.

I have never had good luck with any sprays so I wouldn't do it because you have light hair and it will be difficult to remove. Why don't you try some red clip ins instead? I've bought some (cheap) at Ulta and Sally's
