The same thing happens to me when I use foundations that are too thick & mattifying. I would recommend using a foundation that is lightweight and has a slightly dewy finish, like Bourjois Healthy Mix / NARS Sheer Glow / YSL Youth Liberator / Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua.

Make sure you're using a good moisturizer beforehand. I usually like doing a layer of aqueous cream over my moisturizer; it seals the moisture in and acts as a primer by helping my foundation stick to my skin.

What tools are you using? A good buffing brush can go a long way in making your foundation look natural and flawless.
