So my hair has (as of late) been throwing a tantrum... Normally I have to change what shampoo I'm using because my roots will begin to get greasy quicker if I stay on one for too long. So usually a quick shampoo change will do the trick. BUT.. now my hair is kinking at the roots and being greasy immediately after I wash my hair. Even if I change the shampoo. I got a hair cut, cause I thought my hair just needed something. But that didn't help... Any suggestions? =[

That's crazy that it's greasy immediately after you wash it! Have you tried a clarifying shampoo? If this keeps up though I'd think about seeing a professional about it

I've never used clarifying shampoo. I'll try that! Thanks =]

You need a clarifying shampoo, I was having the same problem and I tried numerous shampoos from low end to high end!! None of it worked.. The only one that works is the matrix normalizing shampoo for normal to oily hair.

Matrix is a great line. Their dry shampoo is fantastic as well.

I agree with using a clarifying shampoo...I do a DIY clarifying rinse that is cheap and easy. It does not smell very good, but don't worry, the scent doesn't stay in your hair. Take a bottle (it can be anything from a water bottle, an old shampoo bottle, or even an empty ketchup container). Add:
1 cup water
1 tbs baking soda
2 tbs apple cider vinegar
Give it a quick shake. Then all you have to do is pour it over your hair, give your roots a decent massage as if you were shampooing (it feels weird because there's no lather, but this is an important step), and rinse.

My next suggestion is something you might not want to hear...but wait it out an extra day or two before shampooing. You need to train your roots to produce less oils...With frequent shampooing, which we all know strips your hair of all the good stuff, your scalp produces more oils to compensate for the loss (and think about it - you never apply conditioner to your roots, so when do those nutrients that are lost in shampooing get to be returned?). So, when you feel your roots getting oily, instead of shampooing that night, massage your scalp as if you were shampooing, then rinse your hair. This will already help with making your hair look a little less oily the next day. To hide the appearance further, you can tease your hair, braid it, where a hat or headband, or use dry shampoo (although I have yet to find a brand that actually works!). All you need to do is go an extra day or two before shampooing again.
Now of course, no one wants to walk around with greasy hair, but the truth is...no one cares. They are way too caught up in their own problems and insecurities to take notice of yours. So don't feel self conscious or worry about it too much - there are bigger things in life. So just enjoy what you can and don't let your hair ruin it for you.

This sounds odd, but when I have buildup, I put mayonnaise at the roots. I leave it in for 30 minutes to an hr, then wash and condition as normal. I scoop some into a small bowl, then apply to my scalp. it's the only thing that works for me. plus it makes my hair very soft and silky.

Also, washing your hair everyday will make your scalp produce more sebum (oil) because shampoo strips all oil from your scalp. as a result, you body tries to compensate for the loss of oil.
