I'm thinking about getting this setting spray. It'll be my first setting spray. I was just wondering, it says its matte, does that mean it'll make my whole face matte, like everything underneath it, if I use illuminator and stuff? Cuz I really want to go for a more satin finish.

It's actually a finishing spray, which is different from a setting spray (:
Bren Nye Final Seal actually adheres the makeup to your face, where as setting sprays cover your face in a light gel coating to remove that powdery look you can sometimes get.
& I would still use this product with an illuminating foundation. odds are you won't overly be able to notice the matte finish

Kyra is right. Final Seal is used to make theatrical or effects makeup or body paint water and touch resistant. It is ideal if you need your makeup to last for hours under duress.
A setting spray, like Urban Decay's All-Nighter, is thinner and is used to hydrate makeup and prevent slippage or migration. It isn't waterproof in most instances, but is generally sufficient for everyday makeup.

Oh I see... I'm really new to this haha. Thank you :) Do you have any good suggestions for a setting spray then? Preferably inexpensive? I guess I could spend more money on one like Urban Decay if it would last a long time... how long does a bottle like that last?

@Amy, I use the UD All Nighter setting spray, which is the long-lasting one (they have 3.. the one I use, a hydrating spray, & an oil free one).
I bought my first bottle about 9 months ago & I JUST ran out this week :p it's absolutely worth the $36!
it'll be cheaper for you tho if you live in America.

I actually don't like the Urban Decay sprays, they didn't work for me.
I use the e.l.f. Makeup Mist & Set. It is $3 at Target.
Other options include Skindinavia (not sure if I spelled that correctly), or Model in a Bottle. I don't know the prices for those.
You can use a fixative spray to set your makeup if you need heavy duty seal (if you're dealing with humidity, rain, sweating). I like the Mehron Barrier Spray, but it can be intense. It does contain alcohol, so it can be drying if used every day.

Thank you both!! That helps a lot. @Kyra, 9 months is a super long time! I think I'll try it out :)

So is the Ben nye spray suitable to wear with regular make up? like for a night out with a face full of make up I notice even if I use a setting spray sometimes my make up looks rough because I live in jacksonville fl where humidity is the worst and I have oily skin as it is lol. so is Ben nye primarily for like what you said, theatrical and really heavy stuff, or is it ok to use for every day or night out make up as well?

@Kimberly, you can definitely use it with everyday makeup. it's not solely for theatrical makeup (:
